I bought a pair of GTS smoked tail light lense covers, a plastic scoring tool, some 3M double-locking tape, sandpaper, flat black paint and some old drafting tools I had laying around, and decided to try my hand at a pair of homemade tail light bezels.

The end result is really not very good at all, but it beats looking at that euro design of the tail end. And, it's different. Sorry if this looks too ricey.

I could probably have done a better job by custom-cutting some blackout tint, but I didn't want to do anything permanent to my tail light lenses. If these fall off or I decide they're just too tacky, at least it's an easy fix. Horrible or not, I thought I'd post them anyway. I'm just tired of waiting for the aftermarket to provide certain simple mod's.

P.S. The car is very dirty. 112 is too hot to be out washing.

I think they look pretty good, and definitely not something you'd see driving around.

Not digging it man, sorry. Good effort though. (Your spoiler looks amazing by the way) If you want to try a flush black out panel, I got an SLP one for under 60 shipped online. I think it looks pretty good.

Cool beans! Actually, I'm waiting for Silverhorse Racing to release their honeycomb blackout panel for the 2010+ models. I want the honeycomb because I still have the stock honeycomb grille on front.

It's due later this month according to an email response I received after joining the waiting list on MRT and inquiring.

The spoiler is a Roush "wing." :winks

The bezels wouldn't be so bad if GTS had designed them lay flat on the tail lenses. It's that awful space from that bubbly poof of a generic mold that makes it look so tacky. Still, at least for now it beats the bone stock look (maybe). :shigrin

An interesting look, but don't they block your backup lights?

I went out and walked around the car again. They're really not completely horrible, though they are a tad shoddy. It's truly that magnetic blackout panel that throws it off the worst. I need a plastic panel so that all will be flush. I'll sling up a few more pic's later, after the sun sets and the lights are on.

At least I have no delusions: this is not and never will be a show car. It's only a V6, only a daily driver, and d**n it! I'm having fun with it! :shigrin It gives me something to do when my wife's out of town.

Was going to say this. The execution is just not there... having a piece of plastic that is just floating over the rear tail lights is aesthetically awful. I wouldnt be caught dead with them on

Nice work... Smoked lenses would be a good addition, would blend in the whole package..

Sorta reminds me of Batman or Robin with bloodshot eyes...

I washed the car, removed the magnet and took a few more pic's at sunset, with the lights on.

Wish I had a way of trimming about 1/4" or slightly more off of the perimeter of the bezels, so that they would lay flush on the tail light lenses.

I'm waiting to see if they ever release the 2012 GT350 tail light assemblies for sale to the general public, or an aftermarket item that matches it. Of course, I'd have to have a body shop install the assemblies and relocate/install new reverse lights.

If the contours on the tail end of this thing were different, I'd consider having a shop graft in classic tail light assemblies from a '67-'68 fastback. I don't like those Cervinis retro-style Eleanor lights.

Of course, I could always buy a second set of tail lights, sand and paint them, then have a body shop install them. Just not enough tail light options out there.
