So i know this is a known issue ive googled it a lot already

So on my way home tonight it was pouring rain and some hail and all of a sudden water just starting pouring into my passenger side like someone was using a house straight inside my car. i was at a red light and got under shelter within id say a min or 2, under a gas station and stayed there till no more rain

i drove home about 40 min it was sprinkling at best i did not notice any more water, sure some did spill in though. On the way home my locks kept like unlocking and locking, when I left them unlocked they seemed to stop, and weirdly they just kept doing it while i was braking and stopped not while going.

Everything else seemed to work fine all my lights, radio, windows, although I didn't run them for long just a couple min other then my lights.

So do you guys think anything got fried like electrical connections?
I was just going to bring it to ford and see what they said, but should I be expecting like a pcm failure or you need a new fuse box type deal?

thanks like I said i know this is a known problem, ive seen the TSB but it does not seem like any recall out for it, I heard it could be the weather stripping on the side but also in the cabin air filter, i looked there tonight didnt see much of anything clogged or water in there. and the weather stripping seemed solid to me but not sure.

The smart junction box in the passenger side footwell probably got wet so you might want to clean it and then spray it with some water repellent.
The underlying problem is blocked drain plugs in the cowl allowing water to accumulate until it finally spills over into the front passenger compartment via the cabin air filter.
You'll probably need to replace the cabin air filter but first unblock the cowl drains.

so i uploaded some photos and i can see what you mean they get clogged did not think this was that big of a deal.

so i sprayed some water over all my car mostly toward that area, and i didnt see any more water come in but i still heard my locks like play around a little, think they just need to like dry out?

everything else seems to be in good working condition though.

thanks

If you can leave the car alone for a while, I'd disconnect the battery, pull the cover off the area by the SJB in the passenger footwell and run a fan to help dry it out. Maybe remove the cover off the SJB too to help dry it out. You don't want to let any more of that magic smoke out.

yeah thats what i was thinking

the cowl clip-pocket gaskets are also a known source of leakage. there are 10 of them from drivers to passenger side. the cowl is 2 piece, I'm sure you know this by now. the early cars just used foam gaskets that didn't seal well. later cars have adhesive backed gaskets that seal better. I used auto goop to seal my cowl clip-pockets. good luck
