Yesterday I took the plunge and got 4 new snow tires for my '14 GT Premium. The owner of the tire store told me I really didn't need them as my Mustang has all season tires, but I feel much more secure, here in a suburb of NYC, with snow tires on my car. (Remember last winter?) Anyway, one of the workers there was helping me put the tires they took off into my SUV and told me, "These are really good tires." He then proceeded to show me how the sidewall is hard too flex and told me if he did that (grabbed the sidewall and pulled) to other brands they sell, the sidewalls would have flexed with ease. I think in getting the snow tires I have now arranged for a very mild winter ;0)

the tire store owner should be selling doughnuts not tires. looks like he knows nothing about mustangs.
He knows nothing about tires either. All season tires are useless compared to winter tires in the winter time.

you cant tell how good a tire is by pulling on the sidewall for one. If that were the case everyone would have runflats. Most michelins have flimsy feeling sidewalls, but they are one of if not the best is passenger car tires.

So I guess that's why I got stuck in parking lots or couldn't even get into my garage with the all seasons on during the first snow this year haha. Driving in snowy conditions is doable but the difference between all seasons and a good snow tire is insane, I don't waste 20 minutes trying to drive away from a stop anymore.

Our other car is an AWD SUV, with all season tires, and even that car (truck?) got stuck a few times during last winter's horrendous snowfalls. From what I've read, AWD or snow tires help a car to get moving but do virtually nothing to help with braking or turning. Every winter I don't worry so much about snow but rather about drivers who think their AWD vehicles can suspend the laws of physics.

Oh god its so true, the issue where I live is that we have a bunch of idiots running around in lifted trucks or awd cars who blast around people who have decided that the laws of physics don't apply to them. Our first snow of the year there was over 300 accidents in less than 18 hours. There is also a video out there of a BMW m3 with snow tires beating a awd Subaru with all seasons off the line. Snow tires make an incredible difference in driving around in the snow weather is with 100 horsepower civic or a 400 horsepower mustang.
