I have a black, 2006 V-6 Premium package coupe with the Shaker 500 sound system and 101K miles . I love my car and have had little problem with it..except for weird electrical issues (battery died early, power loss, bad alternator) but nothing I couldn't deal with.
This isn't a real ISSUE..yet..but given the history of this car I am slightly concerned. This morning while driving to work I thought to myself "Man, it's been awhile since I-75 was jammed up with a wreck" so, naturally, I came upon one not 30 seconds later. Smashed up minivan hopefully no one was hurt. I get past the accident scene and suddenly my music volume dropped to zero and when I looked at my radio display it showed the message "ALERT." I turned the volume nob and the sound came back. It happened again a minute later, and again when I pulled into the parking lot. Never seen that before.
I know some people have had some weird issues with the message "PHONE" come up, but I don't have bluetooth or any of that kind of option-just a straight forward 6 CD Shaker 500. It doesn't even have an IPOD port..nada. I read in the forum about a "911 crash alert system" but I don't have that set up..I think..nor can I dial 911 thru my car. Quite odd.
Is it possible that my cars electronics somehow detected the airbag deployment of the minivan (which I think was a FORD) and the "ALERT" message popped up in response?? Is this some kind of feature intended to alert the driver to an accident closeby?? I am more curious than concerned at this point. Thanks for any responses! Carry on..:im confused:
I considered that, but since I did not experience "time loss" or feel a probing sensation I eliminated alien intervention. No, I think it's just a good ole FORD glitch. :nono:
You'll need a priest that is fluent in Spanish and 2 quarts of Aquafina purified Holy Water....
My shaker did something similar to this last year and the volume would not go about 1.5 bars for 6 months. Then one day, it started working. Go figure. At least yours did come back. After reading the post again, the ALERT thing is kinda freaky. Maybe the cars are really alive and this is how they communicate?
