A few nights ago I was going about 60 or 70 down a straight and lets just say the sharp turn completely snuck up on me. I hit the brakes and ended up going off road.. then 15 or 20 feet in the air then smacked into the nice hard, although life saving, wall of grass. Had that 'wall of grass' not been there I would've flown into the woods. I call it a wall of grass because it was at a 70 degree angle or so, and obviously grass.

I went airborne when I hit a bump in the grass that I used as a ramp to fly off the sharp embankment. I have no idea how I didn't end up flipping when I landed but luckily I didn't.

Needless to say, I survived. Not only did I survive I walked away with just a couple sore spots. No major injuries.

As for my plans on repair it all, there are none. I am going to take a break from the sports car scene and get another 4x4. So if anyone wants a wrecked 95 GT in the NC area just let me know as its on craigslist lol. Sometimes it takes a smack in the face with an airbag to make you realize you are just to young to be running around in a sports car I guess.

I'll attach a few pictures. One I took at the bottom of the embankment, I had to tweak the brightness so you can actually see it. And for some reason the embankment looks really really small in the picture but I assure you it was all of 20 feet high. That big dark spot is where I crash landed. The other is.. well.. you can tell..

So my fellow Stangers, take my advice. Don't speed. And when you do, stop. Leave it for the track. Just going a measly 60mph is enough to total your car and possibly kill you, lucky enough for me God kept me safe. Without his hand being there with me I'd be dead right now.

Thanks man, that's all the matters. It was my first accident and I hope its my last. It really shook me up. At the time it was our only car as my moms suburban blew an intake gasket but we just finished replacing that today. Having to call my parents for them to have to get my aunt to come get us sucked lol.

Well, count your blessings and try to make the best of it. Starting over stinks, but at the very least, be grateful you are able to.

I know right, lol. The car doesn't look that bad at all but the radiator core support was smashed and the air bags deployed so in order for me to get it back on the road it'll cost me a bunch of money and both my parents and I decided I don't need a sports car right now anyways. I don't think I'd get my money out of it if I were to fix it back up and sell it so I'm just going to selling it as is. Hopefully I don't have to part it out.

And fast9050, I am actually looking forward to starting over. Like you said, it sucks. But it'll keep me busy and give me a new project to work on. The last Jeep I had was pretty fun. Me and my dad even replaced the motor in it ourselves one weekend, they are simple to work on.

Thanks man. What do you think would be a fair price to list it for? I'm having trouble trying to figure out what its worth. So basically what I'm asking is what you would pay for it lol.

Well it depends how damaged it is, you say it's totalled but it looks like the nose is smashed, so it's hard to price it.

And If I had a truck and a trailer I would make the trip right now at 1AM, but sadly I have my 1994 GT that still isn't running, and than my dad has a 2007 GT, and my mom has a 2005 convertible... Anyone think I could break down the car and put it into 2 mustang trunks?

If you post some more pics and get a bit more descriptive with what is wrong I'd be happy to slap a price on it for you.

Break it down and put it in two trunks? Pshh, you could take it home in one! :nogrinner

Well I said it was totaled because the air bags deployed. That right there is enough for the insurance company to call it totaled. Other than the air bags, the front bumper, drivers fender, radiator core support, and a couple crimped tranny fluid and fuel lines its all okay.

If there is anything else I could provide you with to help you get an idea please let me know.

Good to hear you are OK...

I have a little advice for you after an accident. It is based on my own personal experience of being in a fairly serious accident after which I "felt good, just a couple of sore spots..."

Make sure you go to the doctor and get checked out if you haven't. If for no other reason than to be sure you are really OK.

It took 6 years for some injuries I suffered in an accident to come to light. Had I went to the doctor initially, it is likely that they would have at least been known about and could have been monitored. As it was, I didn't, and nothing was done treatment wise, and I ended up having a surgery that took me out of commission for a couple of months and left me with a really nice scar on my neck. I now have some titanium and a piece of my sternum in my neck - pretty cool, but I would try to avoid that if I could...

Point is, even if you feel OK, you should still get checked out. Lots of force involved when you are in a car accident, and some stuff inside you can get damaged and not result in any immediate symptoms - better safe than sorry, I think.

Now obviously it is impossible for me to give you a accurate number from here just by looking at pictures, but judging by what your saying, if I where you I would keep the car. Sounds like you need around 400-1000 in repairs, depending on how cheap you get some parts. I would say its worth 1200-1600 as it sits. upwards of 4000 if you fix her up.

If you really want to get rid of it, I would repair it and then sell it, you'll get more money and more people interested if it's drivable as opposed to having to be flat bedded out of their.

Also, what insurance company are you with? up here in CT all the insurance companies have to see a tweaked frame or the car has to be around 5-6 inchs shorter for it to be considered totaled.

Alright thanks Alley, I'll keep that in mind. I really appreciate your advice.

And Khralen, how would I go about getting the air bags fixed? Isn't that a lot of money to get done? And the radiator crossmember would need to be taken off (its welded to the frame) and get a new one welded back on. The part is $100 and my welder isn't powerful enough to weld to something that thick so I'd have to get a welder to do it. That's already at least $800 in parts and labor right there, right? I do know a guy I could probably get some cheap body parts from though. He might be willing to sell me a bumper and fender too

And as for the insurance.. I managed to get it tow trucked out by a buddy who didn't bother to tell the cops or make me go through any paper work. No body knows the accident happened, insurance and police wise I mean. And seeing as I am 16 years old and my insurance is already so high I don't think the rates going up even more would be worth the little bit they would give me for the car. KBB is 2 grand in 'fair' condition anyways..

A guy who parts out mustangs kinda as a job told me he'd give me around $1000 for it so I figure if worst comes to worst and I decide I don't wanna part it out I might give him a call. But I am going to let it sit on craigslist for 1500 obo for a little while first. I need all the money I can get to get another Jeep lol.

If KBB says a running version of yours in fair condition is worth 2k, then I'd snatch up 1k for something that close to totaled. Just my $.02, probably worth half...

You can't fix the air bags, there a one use kind of thing, especially the drivers airbag because when that goes off it rips the entire assembly. You would have to take a trip to the junk yard and hope you can find a SN95 with the right color interior that has non deployed airbags.

I still have my air bags out so if you want I can take pictures of the mounting points for the passenger side one and tell you the best way to rip it out, the drivers side one is easy, just pop off the 2 caps on the steering column and undo those bolts.

As for your radiator cross member, if you have a friend or your parents have a friend or whatever that can do that for you than that'll get you over your biggest hurtle. I have to replace mine too because the guy that towed it to my house when I bought it hooked up to that and crumpled the hell out of the bottom plate.

Well that's exactly the problem. We are "the friend who can fix all your problems" lol. Its just that our welder is a cheap harbor freight welder that is mainly used for exhaust jobs and stuff like that. I appreciate your help but I just don't think I'll be able to get everything done and still make more money than I would've just selling it as is.

And that really sucks about yours. I would've made him pay for the damages!
