Went to the track for the first time ever

That's right. It was my first ever to the track. I didn't race but watching was still a lot of fun and I'm already addicted. It's crazy that watching one night of racing can bring back the insane urge to mod these cars we have. I lost the urge a while back and had been complacent with my stock 05 GT. Now I want more, and I want to run at the track. Watching though is still a blast and I'm going to be a regular from here on out. Anyway just thought I'd share my experience and maybe someone who was like me will go give it a shot.

Congrats on your first time, I have never been to the track YET, my schedule is crazy with work. I'd love to go someday soon though.
It's even more fun on the track!:)
I can only imagine. Someday ill run my car down the track once i have some power mods done.

Yea I stood right behind the burnout spot and Wow. My chest felt like it was going to explode. I just can't describe how much fun it is. The people there are awesome, and the atomosphere is great. Just a bunch of normal, hard working people enjoying fast cars.
Next trip run it =), you will never want to stop.. :bigthumbsup

I can't wait to run my car again, but what sucks is my track closed down on wednesdays until september, and is only open friday nights.. Sadly i have work every friday so that is shot down for me.. Then during next semester, i have a huge/busy schedule and won't be able to run when the track opens wednesdays again.. I have a night class... dangit..

Hell yeah it's fun. I just wish I was done modding my car (yeah, like that will ever happen) and wasn't working so much at work so I could be at the track more. I'm lucky if I can go once a week and that's not enough!

you dont even need any mods. ive ran my V6 a few times now, and its such a blast. its just as much of a rush whether you have a fast car or not. dont bother detailing your car before you go though, cause it will be a mess afterwards. i think sometimes i get the fast V8 guys shook up and they red light, and that makes me the winner :gringreen i have got to kill some chevy V6`s and the hondas. go on a test n tune night and get the feel for it and have some fun. now i want a supercharger bad though:kooky:

Out of curiousity, what rpm did you launch at?
I went to a test and tune dad qat Island Dragway a couples months ago, it was a hheck of a lot of fun

if your asking me, my launch has some serious problems. ive got 28" x 275 tires that grab like flypaper and it kills my rpms and my launch. the V6 just doesnt have the power for that size tire. i can try to tach it up, but as soon as i hit it, i might as well not even tached it. i will be putting some shorter tires on in the near future though, then i can compare results. ive only been on the track 2 nights now. if i tach it up too much though, the tires break loose and i dont go anywhere. i`m looking for any tips i can get :shigrin

You are going to be a natural . I can tell ,you watched how it was done. That tells me you want to learn. The feeling in your chest is a awesome rush, and wait untill you line up. The thing is to have fun and be safe. When you pull up tell the guy at the tree it is your first run ever. He will help you out as well. Unless he is a not so nice person, which is usually not the case. Get to the track early watch some more before you run. Watch the tree and how people leave. I would tell you to launch as soon as the second bottom yellow comes on,or the 1 yellow goes off.

I went my first time ever to race last month and it was an awesome experience, dont let the lack of mods keep you from running cause it takes alot of practice on that tree and launching and I was nervous as heck cause everyone makes it look so easy but I am here to tell you its so cool to be out there staged lane ready to launch, it was a blast. I am going in two weeks again to see if I can get my time down and my speeds up :bigthumbsup

i watched for half the night. seeing the bad boys running, i wasnt gonna try it. then i went and talked to the guy in the staging lanes( where you turn in your ticket to run) turned out he was the owner of the track and said bring that car over here. he wrote the numbers on the car and jumped in. he explained the hand signals of the guys running the burn out box and the tree guys. even went down the track once with me to walk me through the whole thing, and show me where the end of the run and track was. all the guys working the track will be very cool, they want you to have fun. its 1/4 mile for the slow cars, with not alot of room to stop, and 1/8 mile for the big dogs. after that first run, i was hooked. after a bunch of passes, you get the feel for the track, now its time to get the feel of your car on the track :D most fun ive ever had with my car, i could only imagine if you had the big dog :bigthumbsup

I've never run the stang at the track, but I used to take my pickup (70 F100) on test 'n tune nights. First run ever was 18 seconds, but eventually I got it down to [email protected] just by learning how to drive it. Let me tell you, a big block torque monster in a short-bed pickup with open diff and old street tires DOES NOT HOOK! :nono: LOL.

I really wanna run mine but I have to wait until I can get another set of Nittos for my rear tires. I have zero tread on the back two tires. It's pretty unsafe.
