I recommend a decent degreaser applied to it overnight, and then High pressure wash to remove the dirt. Be careful not to let it get to close to the carpet fibers or the high pressure will tear them. I haven't done this to my 11 yet, but I've done it numerous times to other cars that have had 100k+ miles. Results are night and day, be certain to rinse completely and let dry overnight.
I use my carpet cleaner (hot water) and the normal detergents that go with them . Do the mats and carpet all at once. Dries in about an hour. Quick and easy. You can rent them if you don't have one.
sweet...thanks guys...I don't own a dry/wet vac or carpet steam cleaner...it's just the front mats that need cleaning...so I guess I'll look into woolite, etc., scrub them, hose them down and hang to dry...
If there is a quarter carwash near you, use the high pressure rinse on them after agitating with a brush/woolite. That'll get a lot of the crap out. Then place outside to dry.
I use a Carpet Cleaner, but any type of degreaser that doesn't specifically state not to use on carpets should work just fine. I would stay away from Palmolive....
Adam's Carpet Cleaner - the stuff is magic and contains no soap so you don't have any sticky residue left behind to attract dirt. Gets rid of anything and everything. The stuff is bloody magic.
I still recommend the Weathertech digital liners though. Just take them out, give them a little scrub, rinse, and put out in sun to dry. They end up looking new again and you have zero mess on your floors. The floors under the liners look brand new.
