I used Oxi Clean solution and a soft scrub brush. It worked well, but the top never looked brand new.

My trim shop guy told me to just use soap and water. My top is saddle colored and would always get dark stains from the brackets when it was put up. I've had the best luck just using car wash soap with a soft bristle brush and some elbow grease. There are some good convertible top cleaners out there at the auto parts stores but always test a small area before using them. Depending on the age and condition of your top you could make it a lot worse.
