Check to make sure your drums are good (may need to be turned or replaced), new shoes, hardware and spring kit, adjuster and cable, new wheel cylinders are cheap. Bleed the system and your set. make sure you adjust the adjusters out after you get the drums back on.:bigthumbsup

What do you need for a front brake job

for 1966 302-v8 with drum brakes.I'm going to stick with the drums.so any advice would great, thanks.

I suggest yo have the proper tools. Take a look

The tools on the left are used to remove the springs that hold the shoes to the plate.
The tool third from right is used to remove the main springs. You can do the job with pliers but this tool makes it safer and easier

The last 2 tools are "spoons" used to adjust.
This job can be done with pliers and screw drivers but is is a lot harder.

Also wear goggles. When you are removing the drum, check the condition of the outer wheel bearings and grease it.
Do one side at a time so you can refer to the other side.

This is not too bad of a job but take your time and be careful.......Print Dad

When you put the drums back on, either originals turned or replacements, tighten the castle nut by hand until there's drag on the bearings then back it off until it lines up with an opening (notch) to get the cotter pin in. If it's tight where it's lined up with a notch back it off a full notch. You don't want drag (tightness) on the front bearings.
