What do you think about this CAI?

Ok, so this intake is an Ebay brand, but I don't feel like spending $170 on a K&N FIPK (or some other brand). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8032269239&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

What do you guys think? Why should I spend outragous amounts of money when this intake serves the same purpose?

Looks pretty close to a Mac or BBK setup. The K&N will make more power but that one should make the same power as Mac or BBK.
Not fond of the all-metal units and their resultant heat-soak, or having to take care of what might be cheap chrome plating. Still, it's your money/choice.
Prefer just adding a K&N filter in stock housing and removing silencer OR going the Demolet route:
www.demolet.com

Their $160 #5 Unit, available color-matched, std. black, or addit. $15 carbon-fiber option - ALL plastic.

A really good site for all sorts of installation instructions including misc. CAI's:

Agree with Monkey Boy and meatball.
The metal piping just can't catch up with K&N's design. (K&N 10HP, dyno proven)
If it is for the looks, a nice chrome or polished aluminum looks obviously better.
Spend the money now or spend the money later... The K&N is the way to go. I bought the $60 ebay junk first, it lasted 3 months before it rusted and looked bad. The Densecharger is good too from what I've read
spend money on the better product. im runnin the bbk intake.. no problems since. and easy install..
Do you guys know any sites where I can get a K&N FIPK for cheap? The cheapest I can find is like $170...

As far as pricing, what do the Mac and BBK intakes cost? Any other good brands?

I'm having second thoughts about the ebay brands....the filters look pretty cheap and I guess the paint would rust/chip pretty quick...
Another question......where does the stock MAF sensor go with CAI's like that ebay one or the K&N FIPK? Will I have to do any ghetto rigging?
thing is, yea the pipe might absorb heat, but once car starts moving... the intake temps will go down.... check out the temps of a car standing still with plastic or metal cais and see as soon as the move.

Ebay. I got mine for about $150 shipped. Unless you go used, you probably won't see them much cheaper.
i need to know about the MAF lol....Does it just bolt up to the cold air intake in between the two pipes? I'm still leaning toward the ebay intake because its way cheaper than the K&N FIPK intake....
The only thing I like about that particular CAI is that it puts the filter in the fender, other than that, the metal looks cheap and thin and more than likely will rust quick. You can actually lose HP if the air is soaking up the heat then going into the engine. A plastic CAI such as the FIPK ( mine DID make a difference) or the JLT (which also puts the filter into the fender) would be a better way to go, but at the same time, if your just looking for the bling thing without worries for performance, then go for it. I just think the bling won't last very long and in the long run will be a waste. I'm on a budget also, so I know where your coming from, but when it comes to a GOOD CAI, save your pennies. If you like the bling thing AND want performance, I hear the BBK is good. I like the JLT for the performance and they will paint it to match your car. Might be switchin....

If money is truly an issue, just add a K&N filter in the stock housing

Thanks meatball...:)
Well I gave in today and bought a used K&N FIPK off ebay for 100 bux :happyhapp ...I guess it's worth the extra 40 dollars to get a dependable/nice intake.
