my 13' gt have it too but goes away 3-400miles after oil change
Pretty sure I would not be appreciated if I started another tick thread. Just really wanted to know what the barbeque lighter tick sounded like compared to other ticks so I could classify the one I have. Any descriptions or reference would be much appreciated. I have a 2014 with track pack and used 5w50 motorcraft full synth as per manual at 9800 miles. Now have 10500 and a tick that developed after the oil change which seems to be a common factor. Doesn't seem dealers have a handle on this from what I have read with explanations ranging from "it's normal" to full engine replacement. Again, just trying to get a description of the tick called the barbeque tick for now. Thank you and we will hopefully eventually find the cause(s).Sorry to hear you have that crazy BBQ tic...Unfortunately, all I really know is what I have read in threads same as you. Are you going to send Deysha (our forums FORD rep) your info and escalate it to a dealer? ....I understand reading the horror stories doesn't make that seem to appealing though.
The other tic that guys report, is the one my car has just developed. A consistent one (not as high pitch as the BBQ lighter tic) up behind the front passenger wheel in the engine bay (Tic, Tic, Tic, Tic, Tic, Tic..)...Sounds more belt related. I'm blaming the cold weather, but I have no idea though.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in and educate us on whats going on!
It says to use 5w50 in your manual? Interesting. Maybe the thicker viscosity is causing the issue to pop up?....I've only ever used 5w20 Full Synthetic. And my manual says 5w20. And our 5.0 Coyote engines are EXACTLY THE SAME. Bizarre! Even though yours is a "track pack", the engines are no different. Only the BOSS Coyote engine is different, otherwise all the GTs come off the line the same. Maybe they expect someone who buys a "track pack" to race more, hence they feel you should run the thicker oil all the time....Pretty sure I would not be appreciated if I started another tick thread. Anyway.. If you've read the other threads about the BBQ tick, no doubt you've seen some videos and have actually heard it. If not, here's a video a recent member posted. Notice the high pitch spark sound. And its sporadic inconsistency. This is the BBQ lighter tick.

Here's a different video with a different tick. The one I mentioned mine is doing.

As I mentioned before, Rogan01; let me know if you need me.Thank you ChiZ_65!
Mine is definitely the first one (link). Hard to hear tick on the second link though...
also - Yep, manual says 5w50 full synth for the Track Pack and 5W50 is also stamped on the oil filler cap. Wanted to use the recommended oil per the manual for warranty reasons and first oil change was free at the dealer. This starting to happen after the first oil change seems to be a common factor with this issue from what I have read so makes me think it may be related. Why? That's the big question. Hoping someone at Ford or the guys here can figure this out to find what causes and eliminated the BBQ tick.
Thanks again for the videos and help - Good luck to you and all that have these.
You’re very welcome, Rogan01! :winksThank you Deysha. I need to have my other issue evaluated by the dealer where I purchased the car and will also bring this up. I will post a follow up here and definitely take you up on your kind offer if necessary. Glad to know you are here!
