No you are fine. Look in your manual if it makes you feel safer.I did and that is where you need to be. 6 quarts is what I used also. Check your manual you will feel better.
dont quote me, but i think its 6 qts for a GT, and 5.5 qts for a V6. *that is, for the '05+ S197s* check in your owners manuel to be sure.
yes...6 qts. and i highly recommend sticking with the motorcraft 5/20 synthetic blend.
You'll find that the GT actually takes about 6.5 qts to register full.
The filter holds about .5qt. So as STL says 6.5
really? well thats cool. i have a V6, so it doesnt really matter to me, but never hurts to know!!:bigthumbsup haha!
I just found that I had to keep adding well beyond the 6 qts. I always buy 7 now so I know I'll have enough.

I used Mobil 1 5w20 full synthetic, she purrs liker a kitten till I hit the pedal and the SLPs roar like a lion.
ive done my fair share of "lube tech" at the dealer when the real lube techs arent there.............we have automatic "oil guns" lol, that count exactly how much oil goes into one..........i generally find that almost ALL 4.6 cars take about 6 quarts.......usually about 6.2 to 6.3 quarts.............the GT 3v takes between 6 and 6.5 quarts as STL said. The 4.0 v6 takes 5.5 exactly.........as long as the oil reads on the crosshatches you are good.
