what is this thing

If it's the thing with all those small tubes coming out of it, that is part of your anti-lock braking / traction control system. It is a "distribution hub" of sorts that distributes the braking commands to each wheel.

fftopic Hey, where'd you buy the "dress up" kit for your hoses? Is this one of those you just slip on or did you actually replace them? If they are the slip on type, did you have to disconnect the hoses to do it? May I ask what it cost you? Whatever it is, it looks great!
