Sorry... new to mustangs. What rear end do we have in the S197's? Is it the same as the previous years 8.8"?

I want to get a set of 4.10's and I want to make sure I am ordering the for the right rear end.

The biggest difference from previous mustangs is that it comes with 31 spline axles which are about 30% stronger than 28 splines. This doesn't change anything as far as a gear change is concerned. I would stick with genuine FRPP gears. M-4209-G410 the latest part # is M-4209-G410-A. From what I was told the latest "A" revision has a different backcut for whatever that's worth.

Sorry, it is a GT.. 5-speed... I am thinking I might go 4.30 instead of just 4.10

Let me get this straight. You don't do hardcore racing but you want to go with 4.30's???
I hope you have enough rear tire to prevent you from just sitting there spinning.

I dont feel there is that much difference between the 4.10 and 4.30. I mean I have a 3.55 and the general concensous is that going to a 3.73 is a waste.

So if I am going to a 4.10 why not just get a 4.30. Nobody talks about getting huge tires for 4.10's.
