im getting new rims, ive seen sizes 17x9 and 17x8, i have no idea what my stock rims are now, does this number mean the size of tire you need to use???

-- please modify your signature to include the year & model of car you drive. This would be helpful info. Will guess your rims are 17x8 now with 245/45/17 tires; at least that's normally stock. Different sized tires have certain wheel width requirements.

Are you shopping for rims but want to keep your existing tires? and those tires are what size?
