I don't know what wheel size to get! I'm looking to purchase anthracite bullitts. I know I want 18s but what is the difference between 18x9 and 18x10? I want the tire to be flush with the wheel well. Thanks in advance! :)

I am also thinking about 18" wheels. I personally am leaning towards the 18x9 all around so that i can rotate for even wear. American Muscle has some good options to check out and i am looking hard at a package deal.

18x9 would be the economical choice.
If you do it on all 4's it's easy to rotate tires, and tire's are easy to fine and generally available. If you go with a staggered look and you purchase tires that are not bi-directional thread, then you are kinda screwed on rotating tires.

Offsets

with 18x9 a 30mm offset is pretty flush. I would have to guess on a 18x10 wheel at about 24mm.

This is 18x9.5 all around with 40mm offset. The front needs a 5mm spacer to be flush. Tire width for this is a 275.

If you want the same look with a 18x9 wheel with 255/40-18 tire, you would want a 26mm offset.

For a 265/40-18 tire, a 36mm offset.

(yes, it would look better lowered)

Viper,

That is a great shot, tires look flush, like the two sun spots coming off the back of the car.

I run 18x10's all around with 275/40's. 43mm offset is great in the back and slightly rubs at full lock up front. flush in back and could probably use a 5mm or 10mm spacer up front

if you go 18x10's in the rear the widest i'd go is 295s and it should sit flush. i currently have 275 and still have about a pinky width of room

Just for comparison. Here is what 19" Brembos will look like on a v6 car.

Thanks, everyone. I definitely don't want them staggered. And my Mustang is lowered with GT500 replicas that aren't meant for S197 so they stick out (looks ridiculous) and they rub against the wheel well. I just don't know what else I need when I order them or what size.

I have 18x10 with 275-45-18's on the rear and 18x9 with 255-40-18's in the front. They look great! Only drawback with staggered set-ups is you can't rotate your tires. Other than that, who cares!

What style wheels were you looking at? Sometimes that determines what size you can get, which decides what tires & fitment you need to make it look "flush" with the wheel well.

Tires start to get a bit expensive each bit wider you want to go. Also, a person typically gets better fuel economy with the narrower tires and wheels because they typically weigh less.

One important thing to remember with new wheels is weight. No sense adding a bunch of unsprung lbs to each corner. Try and find something that is the same weight or lighter than what you have now. Also, there is a big difference in tire weights too. As much as 5 lbs for any given tire size.

It also depends on where you live, and the weather in your area. I plan on buying some nice rims soon. I'm going with 9 wide front, 10 wide in the rear. I will only be running that set in the summer. The winter, I'll go back to my stocker. Also, do you plan on lowering your car? Will you lower front and rear, or just the rear to level the car out?
