Im looking to get a new exhaust for my 2008 v6 mustang. I dont want duals or anything just the exhaust. I was looking into getting the flowmaster american thunder exhaust. I want one that adds some drone and makes it louder but not where its extemly loud if you know what i mean.. If anyone has any exhaust vids please post and im open to everything so throw them all out there! Thanks!

Well I know you don't want duals, but I'll just put this here anyway. This is my current exhaust set up. I love the way it sounds. It has a terrible amount of drone though. I like it, but most people who ride with me say it's too loud. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ceJzJOqOaK4

Not as loud as mine ;)
But I've got no drone...

Not sure why you WANT drone, but I've heard Dynomax's sound decent on the 4.0. Also Magnaflow might be a good choice as well.

I'm not saying it was aliens...bit it was aliens.

Well I've heard good things about the Flowmaster American Thunder muffler. And for a cheaper route, you could go with a single GT takeoff.

If you considering duals for in the future, get Pype Bombs. I got a pair from AM a while back and only have one on right now...sounds great to me. A video won't ever let you know how exhaust really sounds though in my opinion...they sound stupid in videos when compared to in person.

I can't believe you actually want drone...:headscratch: After living with drone, I'd never get an exhaust that has it again.

To answer your question, maybe look at a muffler delete? I don't think it would be too loud with your stock mid pipe and headers.

well not drone but i want the muscle car noise even when its standing still. I dont wanna do a muffler delete thats for sure. Also will a gt muffler take off fit the v6 and what difference would it make? Also the pype bombs, can you explain that a little more?

The gt take off will fit with no issues. It's more free flowing and will give you a little noise increase. You can find videos on YouTube. Pype bombs are muffler deletes I believe.

So i contacted a guy about buying his gt takeoff mufflers. They had 22,000 miles on them when they both came off and sat in a box for 3 years and he wants $50 for them. What do you think about that?

That sounds reasonable, but I'd still be leaning towards the American Thunder. To me, the stock GT mufflers are awfully quiet.

I had dual GT takeoffs before I just slapped glasspacks on. They are louder than the stock muffler...and sound good, but I wanted something louder. Its hard to really judge what someone elses idea of good/loud enough is. I'm getting a dual in/out muffler this week as the glasspacks are a little over the top. But I hit youtube real hard trying to find a setup I liked.

I've pretty much got an open exhaust with no mufflers at all. At cruising speeds its not that loud...accelerating and wot everyone can hear it. Lol

I'm not saying it was aliens...bit it was aliens.

I think that's a good starter anyway. I had gt takeoffs when I first got duals.
