What's the consensus on RWL tires

Hey All,

If this needs moved to the Wheels and Tires section that's cool. I was directing this question more to the classics. When our 66 is done with paint she'll be getting new wheels and rubber as well. The last time we bought tires was around 1997 and I went with some BF Goodrich with the raised white letters. Are RWL out of fashion on the classics? I still like the look myself but didn't know if straight blackwalls are where it's at now. We won't be going low profile obviously and the wheels (limiited choices for 4 lug) will not be over the top at all but will be in chrome.

I just wanted to ge a consensus on what everyone likes to see on the classics.

Thanks in advance!

I think it really depends on the car and the look you want.

Even though I'm keeping my car with a mostly stock look I did put RWL tires on it just to dress it up some and give it some identity. I had the Kelly Chargers installed a year after I bought the car as it had plain blackwalls before and personally I didn't think they did anything for the look of the car so away they went. There's no stripes or other accents on my car so the RWL help a bit.

Here's what my car looks like, I took the pic this weekend as it finally warmed up enough and the salt is almost off the roads here in the Northeast.

White letters, white walls and red lines are fine the car could have had them when it was new.

Thanks guys... I value your opinions. I just didn't know if it was out of style with current trends. Our 66 is getting sprayed here in the next month (hopefully) so she's getting new wheels and tires as well. I think I'll go with the BF Goodrich again. We're pretty plain jane but we'll be going with the original Tahoe Turquoise. The only other exterior mod will be a GT rear valance. I have duals and I want to get the trumpets through the valance as I love that look. Other than that and some shiny wheels we're good to go.

Thanks for the input guys...
Its a old car use any tire you want everyone likes different things.
I prefer blackwalls unless you are using repro tires such as wide ovals. Just my 2 cents.

I have Cooper Cobras on my 67 coupe. I enjoy their performance and love the RWL. You wouldn't be able to get me to go all black. Good luck with the paint job, please make sure you post when it's done. What colors are you going with?
