My '12 has sync version: Gen1 - V4.0 according to the website. I tried the version checker with a USB drive and get an error when reporting the status back to the website. I only know it's V4.0 from what the syncmyride website says my car has.

Same here. My 12 GT was built on 4/26/11. I used to have a 10 Super Duty with SYNC built on 10/10/09. The only difference I see in the systems that are nearly 2 years apart is the mobile apps. Otherwise they are identical in form and function. IMO Ford and especially Microsoft have really dropped the ball with SYNC.

Both of those build dates are after mine Sounds like some sort of change was made to move the revision to .02?

Not even interested unless I knew exactly what the change was. And even then I'd have to really want the chagne! As I mentioned above there is so little change between the SYNC I had from nearly 2 years ago to the SYNC I hve now.

I'd like to know what moron approved that you can't write MP3s to the hard drive. The only file format permitted to be written to the hard drive is from 15 years ago and it has LOUSY compression at that! I thought that was absurd for the SYNC I purchased in 2009 and even more absurd for my 2012 GT's SYNC!

True, it's not worth the hassle, if the update was for something as small as adding support for another device or something.

V5, which you might have seen floating around, is the MyFordTouch version of Sync. V4 is the highest our cars will ever see. Think of it more as generations, not versions. The Sync we have is 4th generation.

It's possible you may be getting this error because you already have the latest software version installed in your vehicle.

funny enough as I tried to find the latest version for my 2011 V6 but wasn't able to figure that out. All informations from syncmyride.com are Sync VersionGen1 - V3.1. Is this the latest version I can use with my car as you have obviously newer cars?

Any hints?

That's the version I have as well. I wonder if there are any plans to update?

My 11 gt says v3.1 is the latest for my electronics pkg. car. I think the cars with the 3.1 are the cars with the nav/sync not just the regular sync system with no nav.

You can probably thank the Recording industry and not ford for this. They are known for knit picking things like this. They don't believe you should be able to rip a cd to another device. They would rather you repurchase the music in the format you want with copy write protection in place. This is why technology moves so slow in some areas and why Sync does not have applink in Canada. I'm hoping ford reconsiders applink up here as stitcher works fine in the car even though pandora does not because of region copy write issues. If more people contact ford and ask to have stitcher/applink unlocked it will make a difference as I'm told the complaints are starting to become an issue.

I also had the same issue. I could not report my update checker successfully.

When installing the 4.02 update recently It said "installation complete" in the car and then again I tried to report a successful update and it got to 99% and then bailed out and said it was unsuccessful. I'm not sure if I could try and reupdate and then rereport or not.

Thanks! I received your private message. I requested this info so I could do some research in regards to the 4.0 and 4.0.2 discussion that took place earlier in this thread.
