I am probably making this harder than it needs to be, but I always try to buy my parts with confidence that they will fit the first time and not leave me hanging. I went to buy motor mounts yesterday to find that...

1.) Mustangs Unlimited's Catalog does not match there website with regards to the specific years that their mount fits. I beleive it to be a typo, but that doesn't help my confidence.
2.) NPD's online catalog is pretty clear, but they have a disclaimer that says the mount may not fit all 67's
3.) My local parts store (Napa) says that the same mount fits 67 to 72.
4.) And there appears to be a "Tall" and a "Short" version of these mounts.
5.) My old mounts closely measure to what MU says should be the Tall version. The old ones are marked 2257PH & 2294, but appear to be identical.
6.) MU parts numbers are 2286(Tall) & 2287(Short)

With all that said, I could just buy the tall ones, BUT I am putting an Edelbrock Air Gap on and could possibly use the head room in the engine bay. Will the short ones work? If they will bolt up will they significantly crowd the 351W Exhaust manifolds or other items like 1-1/8 front sway bar, steering links. etc? There is an inch difference in mount height. One is 4-1/4 and the other is 3-1/4.

Let's talk motor mounts!

Thanks folks for the quick and experienced replies and all I can say is...

Cr@p!

Does it help me that the car was originally a I6 and/or that it was produced Oct 26, 1966? This whole 67 motor mount thing may explain why one of the mounts had an ear broke off. The car had a 289 in it when I got it, but I didn't notice anythinig odd when I pulled the greasey excuse of a motor out.

Oh! and the 289 was a C5 model. Maybe the PO pulled the Engine Frame Mount Brackets from the engine's original chasis to make the I6 to V8 Swap?

Knowing now that I am not making this harder than it really is, I did some goolgling and found some answers...

The below pic was in the above thread and really helps explain things. It is a illustration of the lower side of the Engine Frame Mount Brackets and it's Holes for which year and model. Thanks David Suets - whoever you are.

I will be taking this drawing home tonight to determine which brackets I own to determine if I need to modify them.

It turns out that I have the 67 specific Motor Mount Brackets. I was hoping that the PO had converted (poorly I admit) the I6 to V8 with 68 parts, but no-go. I will sit back for a while and see if I can't find someone with a conv or big block application that can trade the brackets. If that doesn't present itself, I'm sure an afternoon will be spent welding up holes and redrilling.

My questions still stand regarding the short and tall versions of the available motor mounts...

What are the specifics regarding their application? I would love to find that the short version will work without clearance problems on the lower end while yielding more head room for my taller intake, but don't let that influence your response.
