I went to the NITTO site they have a chart. Yes your tires will fit! As you can see below 8" is optimum but 7.5" to 9.0" is approved for a 235-xx-17 tire.
Tire size.................Approved Rim Width
235/55 ZR17.............7.5-(8.0)-9.0
I just put 18" x 9.5 rims on my 05 Mustang GT and put 255/45/18's on the front and 275/40/18's on the back all on 9.5 inch wide rims.
