my 85 5.0 (its actually an 87 engine) is mysteriously leaking coolant. i have no idea where its going but it seems to lose about an inch (in the reservoir) a day. its not in the oil, its not on the ground. exhaust looks good, plugs look good. my passenger footwell looks good as well. i have NO idea where its going. any ideas? :headscratch

Its Possible your intake gasket is leaking between the coolant port and intake port or your EGR spacer is leaking coolant directly into the intake. Are you getting white smoke out the exhaust.

its probably been driven about 20 miles in the last 3 days. but heres the thing, im pretty sure its leaking out somewhere even when the car is sitting
Ive been looking for an answer to this too! My coolant seems always seems to be disappearing man. There is no unusual leaks or coolant on my driveway...i always have a gallon of coolant in my backseat just incase

Is the radiator low or the overflow tank......:?:

Here's one. You could have a radiator leak which is so small that the coolant evaporates on it before it hits the ground. Pull the fan/shroud away and take a look.

If there's no leak, then it's going out of the tailpipes. It's not evaporating away in the system. Just because the pipes are clean doesn't mean it's not going out, it could be only when you're at speed which would prevent the pipes from getting nasty and overly sooty.
