10 yrs ago i had a 91 notch with a great sound (flows and h-pipe).
I recently now purchased an 89 with an h-pipe and I do not know what mufflers, someone once said maybe they are dynomax.
Anyway I want to have the flowmaster sound.
I am confused. Looking at latemodelresotration and mustangunlimited, there are plenty of flows out there, original 40, then 44, then american thunder, etc.. etc..

Can someone please tell me what I want for that deep 'throaty' sound?

Also what offset muffler do i need?

The car has aftermarket shorty headers and h-pipe.

Thanks,
Greg

I've got Flowmaster 40's. They sound good. With the stock engine they were fairly quiet but pretty throaty with my off road hpipe. With my current Trickflow build they have a rather mild throaty idle, an aggressive throaty sound on average acceleration, and really scream when I open it up.

They are plenty to keep the local ricers away, but not obnoxiously loud.

well 40's are the older flowmasters, those are probably what were on your car 10 years ago.

the 44's are the same as the american thunders i believe.

here is my car with an offroad h pipe and flowmaster american thunders
