Which Hawk Pads?

935 Views 12 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  TheKurgan
Hey EVERYONE!!!! I think i might become the first person here to create more threads than posts :shigrin. I'm about to replace pads all the way around. I have decided on hawk pads as i have heard nothing but good things.

Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads

The above is what I think I'm going to end up going with, but i want to be sure that everyone here thinks these are a decent choice for improving oem braking while still retaining daily drivability. Of course... I appreciate it!!!

I have the HPS pads and they do a much better job than the stock pads.

This may be a silly question but... the link i put up there are to hps pads???? lol
I guess a quick google search coulda gave my answer lol. I think i'm gonna go with the ceramics as i'm not too much of a heavy braker.

The why go with pads at all? The stock ones are outstanding.

I think you recommended the Hawks to me.:headscratch:

Yeah, but you had a use for a performance pad:bigthumbsup

Don't get me wrong, I could destroy a set of stock rotors and pads in a matter of 10-15 miles of back roads. But I brake super late and real hard when out playing. But almost no one does that, or anything close. For most people stock pads are great. But if there is some desire for more braking performance a set of Hawk pads is night and day. And great bang for the buck. I'll bet the stock GT brakes with some good pads will perform as well as the GT500 14" brakes/rotors no problem at all. But putting some good pads in the Brembo's........
I've noticed at 120+ mph that the Hawks are fading really bad. It maybe time for new rotors and pads.

You could be boiling the fluid too. It doesn't take much without brake ducts.

Fluid is a huge variable. When I am racing I change the brake fluid every day (Fri-Sun).

I put the Hawk Ceramics on mine with the stock calipers and rotors and it was very noticable how much less fade I had at the drag strip. Now they didn't do a bit of good for me when I was sliding across the corn field........:heha:

You're probably right. I'll see what Amsoil has to offer for this problem.:happyhapp

Well not Too much, but there are some very nice windy back roads around here that i like to use to put the stang through her paces :hihi:

I've used Brembo LCF600 and Motul RBF600. Both have excellent stamina and will not boil.
