Which pony wheels should I get?

I have a 2000 5 speed with cobra replica wheels and I think these 17's are the reason I'm getting high 17 et's.

So I'm looking at getting some pony rims but I'm confused on which would be best. The stock gt wheels look best but are also 17s
The 16s also look nicer than the 15s in my opinion.
But which wheel would help me get back to decent ETs?

Stock 17" GT rims (not the Bullit style) are among the lightest factory rims no matter what size. It's not the size of the tire, it is the weight of the particular rim and tire combo that are not helping. Not all 17" are bad and smaller does not mean better.

Which same rims? And don't you have a cam? I'm riding a nice fast looking stocker:/ lol

My idea was to get 15s with wider tires like 225s.
The 17X9 95 cobra R's with 275/40 tires, that combo weighed 52lbs a piece!!!!

You can fit 245/55-15 tires on there and only be .5% off on the speedo (which is the same difference as going to 275/40-17's compared to the factory wheels)

TireRack doesn't list any tires in 245/55R15...
Ive got a set of stock 16x7's(i believe thats the size) with the stock goodyears on em, i had em on my car for about a week while i repainted the cobra R's and even though they were faster i hated em, i had so much less grip and it was such a B**** to stop compared to the 255/45/17's. However if you want a set of the stock chrome 03 16's id def be willing to trade em or sell em, lemme know.

TireRack doesn't list any tires in 245/55R15...
Oh my bad, I was just using the tire calculator thing, I didn't bother to look up tires, what about 225/60-15? They have about the same difference, I was just trying to give a wide tire for the little rim
I ran 15.6 with the factory 16x7 wheels, after I added the 18 in. Saleens, now it runs 16.0

Shouldn't drop you a full 2 seconds, unless your running triple dipped chrome 20's or some BS like that.

I'm going to have to correct me previous post on my times.

I went to the track last night and posted a new best on my heavy Saleens. It ran [email protected] last night. I wonder what this car could do if I actually did some things to it.....
So basically I suck and my wheels are heavy.
does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reach high 14s?
I would swap out the wheels first, make sure the car is running ok; tune up, etc.

Other than that, I would work on your shifting and launching, those 2 things are going to make your time more than anything else. I watched guys out there last night with 03/04 Cobra's that were stuck in the 14's and high 13's. Pathetic. Turbo civics running 14's or worse....

Serious driving issues needed to be resolved.

I really need that converter now, a guy with boltons ran the same time I did hahaha my launch sucks with this thing..... Spins and doesn't even go fast out the gate, can't wait for my paycheck from school to come in, converter and maybe a set of drag wheels :smilie
