Today I was getting my haircut, and the barber said she bought a new camaro. Anyways she said how she went to a bunch of dealers until she finally talked them down. She said the dealers wouldn't budge off the sticker price. Not even a couple hundred dollars. They told her how these cars are in such high demand, and other BS.

Anyways the chevy dealers around here have huge inventories of camaros. Some have over 20 sitting on the lot.

Hopefully their Camaro's continue to sit there. That is Gubermint Motors for you.

Chevy has that "no haggle" price right now -- so it's no surprise they won't budge on their already rock-bottom prices...

I actually have to thank GM for their ludicrous prices, other wise I'd be sitting in a boat of ponycar right now. Love my v6 stang, and absolutely have no regrets. I'm so glad I made this decision.

I owned a 4th gen camaro it was my first car and my brother bought one as his first car just about the same time I sold mine. It was a great car but mine was a 94 and his was a 02. Sad part is not much changed in those years and that left me thinking how long was GM going to keep doing this to cars without major updates. So as you can see this time around I went with a company that seems to move a little faster.

Having driven one before I bought the Mustang, I'll tell you why the Camaro is sitting around on dealership lots.

It's not the price, it's the piss poor visibility. It's one of the few cars I have ever driven where it feels dangerous in traffic because you can't see anything. If you have an 18 wheeler semi pull up beside you, right about even with your rear wheels, you CANNOT see it. PERIOD. You can check your mirrors and see nothing, you can glance out the window and see nothing, the only way you would know that big rig is right there is if you turn your head around and lean towards the window to look behind you.

Most people are not comfortable driving a car with such limited visibility. The fact that the Mustang outperforms it doesn't help either.

Agree. I see A LOT of USED Camaro's on the lots. I guess so many fools bought them when they first hit the market thinking it was cool, then got tired of it and unloaded it. It looks great on the outside, but the driver sits so low, I wouldn't feel safe in that thing myself. Too crammed inside, and the interior is a pile of garbage. The Zl1 does look neat though.

Ummm....the Camaro is outselling the Mustang....and has been ALMOST every month since it made a comeback.
Not currently it isn't, and it hasn't outsold the Mustang since April. In fact, April has been the only month it's significantly outsold the Mustang since the '13s hit the streets, and I suspect that's only because GM was accepting tax return checks as down payment.

So far in 2012, the Camaro has outsold the Mustang by 1074 cars. However, January the Camaro had a 2000 car sales advantage, so it's pretty clear the Mustang has been selling better since the 13s hit the streets.

How bad is that that Chevy is now accepting tax return checks as downpayment?

I have not noticed many 2013s on the street. However the last 3 months I've noticed more 2012 5.0s.

Which makes sense people buying left over 2012s since they are cheaper, and same engine.

Right now you can even own a Chevy pos for 60 days and return it for a full refumd as long as it has less then $300 worth of repairs needed

EXACTLY!!!

When I was in Salt Lake at MMP, I rented a Camaro SS. Brand new with 190 miles on the clock. My impressions:

Heavy pig.

Could not see to the rear quarters when backing. I was diagonally parked next to a van. When backing out of the spot I could not see on coming traffic. The back up camera was useless. GM could learn from Ford and install a window in the C post.

Had performance characteristics of a Suburban. Not impressed. :nono:

My cousin owns a v6 Camaro. I drove it and it is pretty nice. The visibility is bad tho and the car feels very heavy. My 13 definitely has better visibility and also feels light, but the back seats on the Camaro are better because I can practically **** in the back, but not in my car. Still id rather have my car any day!

I just sold a 2011 GS vert Vette, I need at least 3 seats, I was going to get a 2013 Camaro vert, I was on the Camaro forum and all I was reading is the the vert top leaks and GM still has not got it right! The coupe Camaro to me looks great but the vert does not at all... I'm getting a 2013 California Special vert GT, Race red loaded with all options, this ride blow's the Camaro away in LOOKs!, period!!!:yup::worship:coolest:good_and_evil::partydance:welcomesign:thankyou

Camaro's have always been a freaking rip off. Its a big reason the F-Body was no more. No one wanted to pay more for a 4th gen then a Mustang, People will buy the cheaper car.
The camaro's were dominating the mustang until the return of the 5.0! Rip off? Besides the 03-04 cobra and 03mach 1 the mustang was pathetic from 94-04!

Drove one of each also and thought the same as a couple others car felt heavy and just can't see anything. If I'm paying insurance on a sports car I'd rather at least have a chance to not cause or be in an accident due to lack of visibility. Also I just felt that ford did a better job on the inside of the mustang then Chevy did on the inside of the camaro and my last two cars were chevy's

I just bought a 2012 Candy Red Metallic, 9300 miles, charcoal
interior, tinted all the way around for $19,000 It really is nice!

Just drive a Camaro down into a parking garage helix....I have......and any/all questions as to why this car is an epic failure from a driveability standpoint will be answered.

You CANNOT see anything on your right....nada. As you come up a drive (or down) there could be a 4'....well, pick anything....bollard, curb, person! You will not see over the hood and past the HUGE pillar, no matter how high you have the seat. Hell, you can't sit that high anyway, because your head will be firmly pressed into the head liner. I am 6'1" mind you.....and I was astounded how bad the visiblity was. In fact, no lie.....I clipped a curb when driving the car. I NEVER do sh*T like that.....ever. I pride myself on my good judgment, and quick grasp of the parameters of a vehicle....no matter how little time behind the wheel. I've driven everything you can think of. This car was so poorly designed, I thought to myself...."yes, people will buy just about anything.....if they think it looks cool."

Funny, used car lot sits directly next to the Chevy dealership in my town. In fact, Chevy bought them out. In the front line.....there are no less than 10 Camaros, slightly used....sitting mere feet from the brand new ones. It's comical. It is clear to me, at least in this neck....the trade-in rate is high. Ford is right accross the street....with one used Mustang (a V6), and 2 more Camaros!!!....LOL

You do realize the 99-01 LS1 Camaros ran 13 flats at over 105 mph bone stock right? Mustangs of the same vintage got MURDERED. Modifications were also way cheaper and more beneficial for the LS1. Just a mild heads/cam combo will have them in the mid 400whp range. The 2 valve was completely helpless against that. Even today, the LS1 F-body should be feared. I'm sure with basic mods, they nip at the heels of the current 5.0.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the 2 valve Mustang. But it sure isn't due to the performance. No one will be impressed with the mighty 230whp it'll throw down with full bolt ons and barely cracking 13's.

No interest in the current Camaro. It's just as silly as the SSR, a concept car that should never be.
