I just recieved a 1998 mustang engine with only 5000 miles on it. i was wandering what i would have to do to make this work in my 2000 mustang. i know it does not have the PI heads, i just want to put the engine in while i build the original engine. i know i would have to use the wiring from the 2000, also the coil packs from the 2000 since there is one for each cylinder and no plug wires. does anyone know what else i would have to do? is the computer the same? thanks everyone for all the help.

You don't need the PCM (computer). Just install the engine as if it were your original.

The only problem that comes to mind is that the 98 has two coolant temp sensors. Your 2K has only one. Easy solution is to just hook up the one for the PCM and forget about the one for the gauge since it's only a temporary install.
