You have to use the 164 tooth flywheel with the larger bell housing. The block plate is also different so use the 351 plate. They position the starter differently so it will line up with the larger flywheel. The same starter will work as long as the flywheel has the same back spacing.
OK, great! I know that I need to match the flywheel and bell housing sizes but I wasn't sure if you could put a 164 tooth set from a 351c onto a 302. This bell is from a 1972 351c (larger style) and the flywheel is a 164 tooth. So I guess it will work. Thanks for the information.
Does anyone have any ideas where to find a used bell housing backing plate for the larger style bells?
