i know the t45 wont fit...not sure about the other one.
also i believe the t45 and the T3650 are interchangeable, if they are, then neither of them will fit.
i was just curious it would be cool to pick up a cheap six speed:D
Sorry, they are not compatible. The 4.6 bellhousing is different......
man gts have half the fun
can anyone tell me i have a 2004 V-6 3.9L with Automatic Trans and a 1998 V-6 3.8L with T-5 OD Manual Transmission i want to swap them around will it work
They will work, but you need to use a neutral-balanced flywheel. Do not use the one off the '98 unless you get it -0- balanced.....
so the automatic will slip right into the 98 with noproblem its just put the T-5 OD in the 2004 with a -0- Balanced FlyWheel correct?
reason for the swapping is because my son will be getting his license shortly and the 98 will be his car and i would prefer him to have automatic in the 98 and i would prefer to have the manual transmission in my 2004 and just want to make sure i have all my ducks in a row so to speak when changing them around

Again, the '98 will need to go externally balanced, and the '04 needs to be internally balanced. So, no weights on the '04 flywheel, and 28oz weight on the flexplate in the '98. So it sounds like you need a flywheel and flexplate.

You also need a transmission harness and computer for the '98 because the PCM shifts the tranny. You can get away with the auto computer in the '04, but you will get codes. To be done right, you need 2 harnesses and 2 computers as well as the pedal assembly.
you think i could get by with swapping the computers around in both vehicles?
No, they are not direct swaps. The 98 is a single port motor and the 2004 is a dual port just fore starters. There are other differences as well.
ok so it sounds like a big headache to switch the transmissions around

It is unless you have the time and parts. Let the kid keep the 5 speed. Just put a j-mod in your auto......
i put a Diablo Sport Tuner on it but its still not the same

Plus another reason i want to change to a Manual is its allot easier on the Fuel
