Just something I've been wondering since the engine became official...

Do you think we'll see the return of factory "5.0" fender badges with the debut of the new Coyote 5.0L?

Most likely it'll be different considering its a completely different motor. But if i owned one I would be very very tempted to slap an old 5.O badge on it. :bigthumbsup

I wouldnt be surprised if it looked a little like it though :scratchchin

They may not release this car anymore due to Obama announcing the new MPG standards in 5 yrs... Being that the Avg of a car manufactures fleet has to be 39 MPG there may not even be mustangs in 5 yrs... :so

I dunno, unless theres new information on that we dont get much up here in the great white north eh!

I don't think that they would put it on the exterior of the car consiering the fact that all the new Explorers and Escapes and such Ford stopped putting the V8 and V6 badeges on them to make the cars seem more fuel efficent (mispelled) granted were talking about Mustangs and the 5.0 is a legendary motor throughout the Mustang lineage so to seem a more fuel efficent car company they may not have exterior badges but put them on a plenium cover over the engine.

They will make and sell them, 'cause there are guys like us who want and will pay for them. They just won't advertise them, they will want to keep a "green" image. And they would be stupid not to put some kind of 5.0 badge on the Coyote 'Stang. Way to much heritage to not cash in on it! Not to mention fear from the bowtie bunch!

Good points.

IF the Coyote 5.0 survives review (I think the other variations intended for the truck line are also undergoing re-thinking because of the truncated amount of time before 38.5 mpg-time), it will VERY likely appear in another limited production model, probably something with the "Boss" name, imo. If that doesn't happen, it might be handed over to the Shelby boys for their use.

A lot depends on what happens with CAFE and EPA. The President has shown a willingness to use these agencies to create legislation all by himself, and he is intent on installing Cap and Trade tax penalties, too. THEY could really be tough on cars (think Gas Guzzler taxes running into the thousands of dollars for any cars not hitting 38.5mpg magik number). Even if Ford manages to sell millions of tiny Ka's, Fiestas and hybrids, getting the averages up to that sky-high number will be nearly impossible without chopping out the cars that "wreck the curve".

Do they have a pic? Does it look like the old one that ran on the Mustangs?

Can anyone remember if they used them for the trucks back when the 5.0 was a truck engine? I think they did.

truck motors make great car motors. just look at the 454 big block in the chevy 70's duallys. one hell of a hot rod motor. the 50's heritage is possibly the greatest muslc car heritage of all time. i personally think they would be stupid to not put a 5.0 badge on it

Black1ce, you are most likely right about this administration's determination to rid us of "muscle cars." I hate to think how many forum members put this guy in office...a real travesty.

You're kidding, right? I mean seriously.... do you really think the Obama administration wants to get rid of muscle cars because they don't get great fuel economy? Have you considered the fact that all 3 American car companies have recently invested big $$$$ in development for their own branded muscle cars? Do you really think Obama has a vested interest in causing even more financial hardship for American car companies?

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me....not at all based in reality. Besides, the majority of these "muscle cars" or "pony cars" are sold with their smaller, more economical engines, which makes them even less of a target for those who would like to see an end of the uneconomical V8 engine.

The 5.0 is an icon of the pushrod days of small block Fords. When performance came back after the bad days when V8's made 130hp, the 5.0 earned a warm spot in people's hearts.

Of course, the new 5.0 will have NOTHING in common with the original except the displacement, but sentimental reactions are understandable.
