*I talked about this in another thread but didn't want to hijack the users post.*

Just the other day, I think my Mach CD6 finally crapped out on me in my '03 after it not mechanically making any sound displaying "CD ERROR". I really do not want to buy an aftermarket head unit as I would like to keep the car "original" looking. I did some research and saw this unit from crutchfields website that plugs into the back of the factory unit and allows you to play an ipod/iphone. I was wondering if this unit will work still with the CD error message since you have to hit the CD button twice to get to the ipod, thanks

Whenever my headunit gave me the CD ERROR message of death, I just ripped the thing out and replaced it with a very nice Pioneer Nav unit.

One way to find out if you can still use the head unit regardless of the cd error is to try and play the radio. If the radio works than its obviuosly a cd specific hardware issue.

If the radio doesnt work than I wouldnt invest into an ipod adaptor.

Radio still works fine, just when I hit the CD button, it doesn't even bother trying to play a cd and radio is still on. After a few seconds, I get the CD ERROR message. I think I might buy this adapter and if it doesn't work, ill either hit up the junkyards and find another CD6 or budge for an aftermarket system. One thing, I do not want a FM transmitter. Had one and it pissed me off so much, I threw it out the window lol

Ya, fm transmitters are a joke.

I only talk from experience, its worth it to invest just a little more and get the aftermarket system.

If you buy the ipod adaptor now, and possibly another mach 460 cd player, you will be only 40 more $ shy of an extremely reliable Pioneer or Sony headunit with aux or ipod ready.

Give the ipod trick a try, lets just hope it doesnt involve any cd player functions .

How about an FM modulator that also uses the cable to charge the iPod. I had one of these in my '06 Mitsu Eclipse and it worked great. No intereference at all. Plays though the antenna port on your head unit.
