Has any one tried winter tires/ all weather tires verses the summer stock that comes with the car? I am thinking about getting some for this winter. I live on Long Island at the moment so the winters arent devastating but they have their days.

If you do did you do all tires or just two? which two? What advice can you give me?!:wavey

You do all four tires so you have similar traction. I ended up with just the rear two once due to a frozen bolt without the proper tools and even during lane changes you could tell the car wasn't balanced.

Summer tires aren't made for the cold so you'd definitely see improvement.

If replacing your summer tires, I'd just go with a good set of all-seasons/all-weather like the Nokian WGR2.
If keeping your summer tires, I'd look at snow tires like the Blizzak WS-60s and a cheap set of wheels.
If you really have a mild winter, I'd go with the Nokians but you can look at winter tires like Bridgestone LM-25s. A compromise between a snow tire and all season.

I've got the WS-60s on my old car for the last 3 winters and I bought my mom the Nokian WGR2s as they didn't want to switch tires.

Just don't use a summer tire in winter. I had a 99 GT vert that I got out early a few years ago to take this girl on a date in. We went to dinner and it snowed 3 inches by the time we left... Man, what a ride on the way home! NO traction at all. First time I pulled out on the road with just a touch of gas and we spun 180.

I had some General Tire UHP's I think..... Decent tire...for summer only.

It was bad.... LOL....but kinda of fun too!!!:bigthumbsup (well for me, she was scared out of her mind haha)
