Hello.
The grey wire is the one that's supposed to go through the firewall and plug into the wire that actually goes to the fog lights. I have the entire system diagramed in a way that is pretty easy to follow on my blog. Just click on the little house thingy that is by my post count and type Fog lights into the search there and it will come up near the bottom of the page. Hope that helps.
