I have BBK headers (short) and flowmaster super 40's and i want to keep the low rumble sound of my car.

one of my buddies said that X-pipes are for a high sound and that an H-pipe is more for a lower more rumble sound.

Is this true what do yall recomend?

dont worry about price my buddy and i are gonna build it he owns a preformance shop.

thanks for any info.

I couldn't tell ya right off hand about the sound. But I'm pretty sure that x-pipes typically flow a little better if that helps you out. If your buddy owns a shop, build one of each and do a one week trial of each and let us know how it turns out.
X-Pipe all the way

The X-pipe is going to allow your car to breathe better and the flow of the exhaust will give you better HP. The low rumble is really not going to be affected by the pipe change. The main reason you have the rumble inside the car is the flowmaster. I love the outside sound they give, but the rumble inside the car is the drawback to them. I went with forza-flow myself to get the rich tone flowmaster gives but without all the vibration and echo inside the car. The change from H to X-pipe shouldn't change the echo much at all.
X-pipes produce a higher pitched noise than a H-pipe. They supposedly produce more power, but the gains are minimal. If you have flows, I would suggest the H-pipe, as the X and 40 series flows produce an ugly sound around 2300 up to 2800 that sounds just like an import. I have gotten used to it by not driving in that rpm range, but besides that 500rpms, it sounds so much better. I wish you could hear mine around 6700rpms.
did you have any trounble with installing the headers? i have been having a heck of a time. they wont stop leaking. i think i blew the drivers side hasket.
The X pipe without a doubt has a higher pitch compared to the H.

Do the H-pipe with chambered mufflers. X pipes make more power and in my opinion sound better, but it will sound like crap with the flowmasters. Trust me. Either ditch the flows and get a muffler that's not chambered like Magnaflows, or just get the H...

Is there a big difference between the factory H and another H? Any brand in particular you would recommend? Thanks

Ya, there is a difference. Aftermarket H pipes have 2 cats or none vs the stock 4, they are bigger pipes, and they are usually madrel bent, so no pinched pipes. As far as brands go, that's up to you. I perfer X-pipes. If you were to use an X, I'd say Bassani or BBK (big price difference in the two).
I've had both on my car, both are alot better than stock, as far as power I couldn't tell a difference and my track times were about the same. I'm on my third now, H with longtubes. The x was the quietest, but I thought it sounded weird, but hey I'm old school, come to think it I'm just old period.
