I took my 2006 GT to the Cecil County Dragway tonight. I ran the car just as it is described in my signature below.

Please keep in mind that this is the first time that I have run the 1/4 mile since I was a teen and ran my 90 LX 5.0 a few times - so it has been a long time.

Well, I arrived around 6:30 PM and got my first run in at 6:53 PM - it was about 80 degrees and I ran a 12.912 ET at 114.16 MPH - R/T was .580 and 60' was 2.195. Knowing that I was in the 12's, with improved ET's times certainly to come, had a smile on my face.

I was able to get a total of 8 runs.

My best was a 12.775 ET at 115.72 - R/T was .592 and 60' was 2.254.

From all the other runs - the car ran consistently 12.7 to 12.9 (with the exception of one run...), my best R/T was .076 and my best 60' was 2.101.

My overall thoughts:

Getting traction was difficult and I was basically not revving (loading) the car at all coming off the line and it was still spinning in first and sometimes in second. Some improvements in traction would help me. I've got to get my 60' times lower.

Racing aside, my father went with me - so it was an evening of quality time with my dad.

So, overall - I'm pleased - but do want to get some lower ET times.

Here is a video of my 12.853 ET run at 114.49 MPH.

With some better traction...maybe some drag radials...and some more practice, I'm hoping to see some low 12 second ET's.

I'll post some more videos and some ET slips.

Agreed that you gotta knock those 60fts down but hell, it takes practice man. Its all good, it was fun right? Main thing right there.. I mean hell, 12.8s aren't great by any means but i look at it this way you werent one of those dumbasses with all this power and running 13s and 14s..

I ran against a guy with a 2009 GT500 vert, KB Mammoth on the car, drag wheels n a bunch of other crap.. He ran a 2.7 60ft and ran like 14.xx I completely raped him in an automatic bolt on GT with street tires. I ran the time in my sig hah. Get some LCAs and relocation brackets and you will knock those 60 fts down a few. I went from 2.1-2.2s to a 1.8 with them. On the same street tires.

You will get there

That's not to bad man seeing you were on street tires. I am not new to racing but still working my new setup and with all this power and street tires you will never see your true times.

I ran a best of 12.1 at about 118 on 125 of nitrous and radials. I now have a turbo a 9PSI and ran a best so far of 12.6 at 121 on street tires so needless to say that I am not taking these times as the finished product and I know you wont settle for yours.

As long as you have fun and don't talk s**t to someone blurting out your mods and then running those times no one will think anything but that your on the wrong tires and are still learning your new setup.

I bought 15X10 race stars they are pretty cheap and if you have the money I would suggest them. You can pick up a nice Drag radial or slick to mate up to the Drag rims and be golden (I am still debating on slicks or radials due to the fact you don't want to run Bias tires with non Bias).

Get the right tires and post back and see how you did.

I went from 12.8 to 12.1 by adding radials alone with nitrous and probably could have neted 11's easy with more time.

Almost forgot ,,,, Make sure you pick up some LCA and a good UCA to help with wheel hop you wont regret it didn't see it it your thread so I went back and edited my post.

UMI, B&M, Steeda, CHE and a bunch of other companies have great products but for the price UMI is the best and is growing fast in the market.

trap speed of 114+ will have you in the 11's easily with the right tires.
