Hello
I'm writing from Cali Colombia . after a lot of hassle with Colombian customs paperwork I finally have my 67 convertible here . I bought the car on Ebay from a seller in Delaware.
I'm getting started in the restoration process but need help figuring out the Data plate .

% 593
27 D7 7T03T227693
76A T 2A
-R
TOP-2

I need to find out the original exterior paint color code .

The exterior is a faded dark reddish color , I looked behind the back seat and inside the doors and the paint looks more burgundy than red to me .

Does that T on the plate stands for color ( candy apple red ) or for engine size ? , (it has a six cylinder engine )

And if the T stands for engine size , where is the color code for Vintage Burgundy ( X ) if that is the original color ??
Is there another place on the car that I can look for the color code ? , it only has this data plate and again the vin number stamped on the top of the left front fender apron , nothing else that I can see!

Any help would be appreciated , have a great day !

Hello.:) What you are looking at is the buck tag. The thing that kind of looks like % actually says c/o, which means customer order, as opposed to dealer order. The 593 is the rotation number, which means that your car was the 593rd car down the line that day. 27 is the welding bay in which your car was assembled, D7 is the build date (April 7th) 76A is a standard interior convertible, T is the color ( candyapple red) 2A is the interior ( black vinyl) Top-2 is a black top. The -R thing is some option, but, I have no idea what that is. Hope that helps.:)

Veronica broke down most of the tag, here's the rest,

The minus R (-R) means that the rocker moldings were deleted, not installed by the factory. The person who ordered the car didn't want them.

The Top-2 is a black top but it also means that the top is power with a glass rear window.

Keep in mind these code breakdowns are for 1967 Metuchen.

With the T by itself it would be Candyapple Red exterior originally. It sounds like the car was repainted in the past a darker red, possibly Vintage Burgandy but it could be any other color and not even a Ford one.

Thanks to you all for the fast response ! ... I guess Candy apple red it is !,

Now I know where to go when I'll run in to a dead end .

There is only a handfull of Mustangs here in Cali but they are all in inmaculate shape .

You all take care !

Welcome Cali!

My first thought when I saw your user name was California!

7T03T227693 - This is your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

7............. 1967
T............. Metuchen, NJ Assembly Plant
03............Convertible
T............ 200-1V engine
227693.... Unit number on the Assembly Line at Metuchen, NJ

Do you have a Door Data Plate on your car?

Since you now know that your car came with a 200-1V Six Cylinder Engine, and was Candyapple Red, with a Black Top and Black Standard Interior, the drivers Door Data Plate can fill in the rest like:

Scheduled Date of Assembly
DSO (District Sales Office it was ordered through)
Axle ratio
Transmission

Write down the codes from that tag, go to:

http://www.mustangdecoder.com/plates.html#1967

and plug in the codes.

My car was built shortly before yours at that plant. My guess is your car was built sometime in March 1967.

Hi folks,
2 67 fastback S codes in the shop. Rough but salvageable. Need help on buck tag decoding.
c/o - customer ordered
344 - rotation
33 - DSO (Detroit?)
M3 - ??
7T02S159986 - 67, Metchn, fastback, 390 4bbl
63B - Fastback w/luxury interior
X - Vintage burgundy
6A - Blk luxury buckets
ET - ???
SK - ???
STEREO - ?? (has AM/8 track player w/door speakers)
P10 - ???
DB - ???
MC - ???
It's a GTA w/C6 & has a fixed rear seat vs. the fold-down.

The second one is also customer ordered & actually has the same rotation # -344.

34 - DSO
A18 ??
7T02S188672 - 67, Metuchen, fastbk, 390 4bbl,
63B - fastbck w/luxury interior
Y - Dark Ivy Green
6G - Gold/grn luxury buckets ?
ET - ???
4 speed - obvious
SK - ???
P10 - ???
DB - ???
F or 5D (little "star stamp" went thru first #/letter) ???

We've had to push this one around & it rolls like it's got a detroit locker in it.

Thanks,

Phil
