I have looked high and low for a good center console for my 68 stang coupe with an a/t and I just can't find one that is worth it. I have seen these ebay gambles that are in rough shape but I don't want to take as much time restoring a console as the car itself. So If anyone knows someone who has stock piled these things or remanufactures them please let me know.

Sorry, no-one makes a reproduction of the 67-68 console. If someone did, they could sell a million of them!!!! Everyone wants one!!! Your only hope is a good used one, or a home-done rebuilt one.
Be patient, and keep trying.
Good Luck,

center consoles

I had an very difficult time getting a four speed center console. Here is a tip, look for a cougar, escpecially the autopmatic version should be fairly easy to find. The only difference I noted was a big clock in the center instead of that sliding garage door. I am sure you can switch the clock out to the door if you chose. I really liked the clock and left it.

If it has a clock, it's an XR7. The standard Cougars had the garage door - mine does.;)

I think the '67-'68 Shelbys used that XR7 console as well.
I'd love to have the XR7 instrument panel.

The 67 style console is being reproduced now in it's entirety. NPD, MU and others have it. Only available in black but can be dyed to match other colors. Don't know anyone who's used one so I can't comment on quality or fit.

It will work for a 68 and if you want it to be more exact for 68 you will have to change the door to the 68 style.

Center Console for Classic Mustangs

You guys can also try one of Classic Consoles aftermarket consoles. They match the original vinyl so it looks nice in the interior and complements everything.

There is a rumor that I heard recently that they are coming out with a new version that has a brushed aluminum accent piece on it.

www.bthunder.com - Blue Thunder Specialties is a site that sells them. You can also link to a distributor from the manufacturer's website - www.classicconsoles.com. These are not the original or original reproduction, but they are aftermarket consoles that look really nice for a fraction of the cost of an original.

Console Solution

There are consoles that you can buy that are aftermarket consoles. These are not "reproductions" but they are nice consoles that match the interior vinyl so there is a smooth transition in the original color scheme.

Try www.bthunder.com and click on "Mustang" to see all consoles available. There are variations that you need to consider depending on your particular classic mustang.

You can also "two-tone" the vinyl for Pony deluxe interiors. They are completely upholstered which is pretty cool too and the stitch work from what I have seen is really nice.

Classic Consoles makes these and they make some drink holders as well for cheaper that slide into the ashtrays. Cool idea and very popular. I have seen several of these around and they look really good.

Although these are not "original reproductions" they are removable and extremely simple to install. The manufacturer's website is www.classicconsoles.com which also has several Mustang supply companies that you find parts from, too, that advertise on their site.

You MAY want to check the classified section. I"ve listed mine 3 times.
It is currently in the car and has been for 30 years.
