I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about when you say "tire rod". Are you talking about a "tie rod"? I attached a diagram of the front end components you might be referring to. Any auto parts store will carry these (Auto Zone, Napa, Kragen etc). A set of 2 tie rods should run you no more than $70.

Well, if you are looking to have them done at a shop, you could always go to Les Schwab, they may not be the greatest in the world, but I was quoted something like 350 to have both my tie rods and my lower ball joints replaced, including parts. I believe this also included the alignment. Most places include an alignment in the cost of a tie rod/balljoint replacement.

Certainly more expensive than doing it yourself (unless you are buying the lifting gear necessary to do the task yourself as I would have to do for my own. Can't afford it all right now) but if you don't know what you are doing, its SO much cheaper than going to your dealership. If you don't have sales tax, it'll probably be cheaper. Washington has an 8.75% sales tax.

If I recall, a tie-rod end replacement and the alignment would go something like 150ish, not sure if that would include the sales tax you would get if you were quoted here in Washington.

IF you can do this yourself and have access to a car lift - do it yourself!

If you must take it to a shop you are looking $200+

You don't need access to a car lift. Just a jack and stands will work. If you want, I can fully explain how to do it. PM me. It's very simple, You just need basic hand tools. You'll also need to get an alignment afterwards. Hell, I had a tie rod popped out of its joint while driving one time and I did the install on the road. Definitely doable.

My advice would be to spend $10-15 on ebay and get a Hayne's repair manual. That thing will save you thousands $$$$
