Hello, i have a 05 mustang GT. THe problem is that both brake lights stay on, even if i turn off the ignition and pull the key. Here in France, my dealer says smart junction box is out of order. I've heard (on this forum) that sjb issues come from water leak in the passenger area. There is no water leak in my car. So what could be the origin of failed sjb ? Is it a frequent issue when there is no water leak ?

Thanks from France !

This is the first that I have heard of this.
Was the SJB area checked for dampness?
You could also have a loose connection to the SJB, or it could have just failed.

No sign of dampness. I asked to my dealer and he said the same thing. He said the SJB is dead because with another SJB on my car, everything is OK.
May be i got a loose connection (thanks for this advice) and with the new one the loose connection is gone. I'll ask him.

I got a new bettery 15 days ago. This new battery has more power. This can affect SJB ?

I had a sjb fail. I ended up getting new one. Both of my turn lights on the right rear quit working. replaced the sjb and everything is working except my alarm....

Probably because the dealer did not dowload parameters in the new SJB. Alarm, power windows, whippers etc are concerned with SJB.

I've had your exact problem, although not with a mustang. My 95 buick's break lights stayed on even after I turned off the car and removed the key. The problem was the sensor near the break pedal that turns the lights on when I stepped on the brake was coming loose. It would turn the lights on, but fail to turn them off.

So, I'd say double check and make sure everything from the brake pedal forward is tight.

I checked the sensor behind the brake pedal.. it's OK.
My SJB has been checked on another Mustang : brake lights stay on....

Price for a new SJB here in France : 850 $ :ahhhhh

Ouch! I got mine for 300.00. I'm taking mine in to Ford tomorrow to have them set up the alarm. Good luck..

Well all said and done. The sjb cost $300.00 and another $100.00 to have Ford reprogram the alarm. I reprogramed the fob's myself. Good thing everything is working right :heha:

I don´t know but if your stang is convertert to the european lightning specifications (amber rear turn lights, no amber front position lights etc) and you got amber bulbs in your reverse lights, then this is an typical malfunktion of an bad elektronic conversation to the euro specs.

The problem if you have is seriousley often discused in the german mustang forum

and if the breaklights stay allways on, that´s a typical malfunktion of a bad convertion to the euro specs.

What you have to do, is to going to an expert for this kind of work and let them check you current convertation. If you don´t do that, your new sjb will be fail again and again.

Hope this may be helpfull.

sorry for my english.:D

Thank you for this answer. Yes i have a european conversion like that : see the picture above. It is on my car for 1 year now with no issue. I asked to my mechanic to check the conversion and he said it's OK. But can i trust in my mechanic ? :smoke: So i'm afraid my new sjb could failed again...

Ps.: on the german mustang forum exist a thread wich explain how to repair the burned up sjb. There are also some pdf´s able to download, unfortumately only in german language.
But I think the UK guys website will give you the right information you needet.

...interessting - maybe he wanna check this out.

Another known problem of some euro spec conversations is, you are not able to reprogram your TPM´s system.

If so, you have to rewire on wire on the sjb and than it works again. After that programming you must cut the wire again, some guys over here solvet this problem with an extra switch under the dashboard.:gringreen
