Hey everyone,

My cousin has a 2010 GT 4.6L. He bought it used but bolted up to the max. Ford racing TB, steeda CAI, Ford Racing Tower strut, Ford Racing X pipe and FR500S mufflers.

*should be tuned as well since the steeda CAI requires one - but not 100% sure.


The mufflers were great nice and throaty

Then

I have a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 and we installed Roush Axle Backs and they were glorious. So good that that night he wanted something that was crazy loud.

So he ordered SLP LM1's which is essentially a straight pipe set up.

When we installed the SLPs and started it up - we were left puzzled. The exhaust note was not as loud as my Roush or his old FR500S. They sounded nothing like what you type in on YouTube either.

We checked to make sure everything was installed correctly and made sure its LM1s. It just was not loud at all. Which sounds stupid typing it. It still has the cats and resonators however the loudness and exhaust note just wasn't like what we have heard from other videos

So my question would be if his car was tuned to the set up he had originally and we swapped the mufflers out does the tune have anything to do with the exhaust note? Does it control anything along those lines? Why do the FR500S mufflers sound louder than SLP?

Is the 4.6L just a quieter animal vs the 5.0. Because my Roush was louder than his no muffler.

We also noticed a little sluggishness when driving with SLP. "Felt" less snappy.

The SLP LM's should be loud, even without other mods. That is the only exhaust mod I have on my 2010 GT and the sound is much deeper than most 5.0's. Are you sure he actually received the LM's, and not the other SLP exhaust that is a quieter version? If anything, the SLP LM's should've been way, way too loud with those other mods. I would check to make sure he actually received the correct exhaust.

that's what I could not believe. It was not loud like you would expect. I have a video on my phone ill see if I can upload it to the forum. During the install all that came was the pre-bent pipe and a tip from slp. I would assume that's the LM1

He reinstalled his FR500S for now. Could be all in our heads
