I am seeking a way to lock the gas access to the 2010 GT.

On the 2010 GT, the outer gas cap cover is not lockable. The inner filler pipe has no filler cap. Instead these is some sort of "flap" that presumably provides cleanliness protection and which moves out of the way automatically when the gas nozzle is inserted.

I am concerned about this design because it appears much too easy to
(a) siphon gas from, and
(b) to vandalize by putting some foreign material down the gas pipe

Has anyone identified a cap that can be installed on the 2010 filler pipe and that is lockable?

I've designed a locking cap for the 2010+ Mustangs... it just hasn't been selling very well... must be marketing!

Gas Cap

I really like the ease of filling up, not crazy about someone being able to just open it up and drop some contamination in. I was dissappointed that the lid was not designed to lock. Maybe a AM Supplier will design something.

There is a lock on the actual metal flap. It need something the EXACT size as a nozel to release the 2 levers for it to open? How do I know this? I tried to add a fuel additive. I had to find a long tapered funnel and I cut it so it now allows me to add the octane boost to my car. If you reach in and use both of your pinkies to depress the levers it will open but it closes too fast. It would not be as easy as you might think to contaminate it.

A "REAL" delivery from your salesperson should have included an introduction to the white plastic nozzle that is in the trunk with the spare equipment designed to enable you to add an additive or fuel from a can in the unlikely event you run out of gas instead of simply tossing you the keys and wishing you the best...

I would like to go back to my dealer and yell at my salesperson for not showing me this. I spent the whole afternoon going back and forth trying to find a long term solution. I even went to my dealer and asked if they sell a funnel that fits? I am really marking them down when I get my performace card from Ford.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING!!! :bigthumbsup

If anything I noticed, it's a dirty mess, when it rains, it seems like dirt and fuel leaks out of the back and drips down the side of my car, takes a lot to clean off, anyone else have this issue?

Maybe a small rag in a plastic bag you keep in the trunk will at least help when gassing the car. You can put it under the nozzle to keep it from dripping.

As for the rain I would look to see where its leaking from and see about sealing it with some silicone if you can.

I was not shown a dang thing from the dealer, he handed me the keys and said here ya go.

Yeah, that's an idea I thought, Im very careful not to let it drip... just seems like dirt gets trapped in there and leaks out when rain water gets in there... buh.

But I'll try to find if its actually leaking.

Thanks for the tips!

Sorry about that!

I can't speak as to how anyone else runs a dealership, but the delivery is the best part! It's fun for everyone... showing off all of the new toys in your car- It usually takes close to an hour and you leave with your clock set, your radio stations set, your memory seat adjusted for you and your significant other, your SYNC dialed in to your phone and your significant other's, a new code programmed into the door pad, a full understanding of the operation of the syncmyride website, VHR and 911 assist explanation, spare tire use, and I set your appointment for your first service appointment.

You got cheated - I had a salesman that thought the delivery process included tossing the customer the keys and wishing them all the best! ... he didn't last too long

In fact, they should have had you sign a delivery checklist to ensure you comprehended everything...

Next time you are in Port Angeles - come see me and I will get you squared away personally!

In the mean time, call us at 360-457-3333 if you have any questions.

The local H-D dealer does basiclly the same thing with new bikes. It takes about 15min. and once a month the service department goes over what happens with there new bike service and mod options.
