Hello all,

So here is my question. I always thought my 2012 GT had stock brakes until I ordered the caliper covers from American Muscle. It was painfully obvious that my caliper was too big for these covers and there was no chance in hell it was going to fit without rubbing against the rotor and not even fully covering the caliper at the same time. I do not have the Brembo brakes or any fancy looking package. My calipers look so basic and boring i had only assumed they were stock since i bought the car used. The other day though i was parked next to my friends 2010 GT and clearly my rotors were larger so maybe the previous owner of my car upgraded something. Does anybody know what size these rotors and calipers might be? Or what kind of package this is considered if its from ford? I have no idea what size brake pads and rotors I will need to get for this car or if I will ever be able to fit a caliper cover and every site only gives the option to order brakes for brembo or stock.

First I would start with the determination of the diameter of your rotors using a measuring device. Then I would take some high quality photos with your tire off with views from at least 3 sides. Then I would post them in this forum and then you will get more responses. Sorry but it is the best way to get the best responses.

Thanks for responding at least haha you are right though, Ill definitely do that. At a glance I want to say the rotor looks like its in the 13" range but i need to measure it to be sure. I was just kinda throwing it out there incase anybody has encountered this themselves.

2011-up have larger front rotors than the 2010 GTs do. Base brakes for 2011+ are 13.2" in front. 05-10 are either 11.5 or 12.5 I don't remember which. Except for Brembo cars I'm pretty sure the calipers are the same for all years- only the caliper brackets are different.

Forget the caliper covers. If you want them to look a little better then just paint them.

But it is strange that the caliper covers do not fit; a 2012 GT is a 2012 GT and if you order caliper covers for a 2012 GT, they should fit.

Though I agree, they are kinda goofy and paint is better.

Hey J2 - Sorry to hear about the trouble with the covers but if they're not going to be able to work drop me a line and I'll have a return set up for you for a 100% refund. I don't want you sitting on parts that you can't use!

I'm just throwing out an idea. He said the covers were definitely not the right size and that was my first thought that came to mind. Maybe they were for the wrong year? I don't know. All I know is that he said they didn't fit and I gave a possibility as to why.

Thanks everybody for the input, that's good to know that 11+ has bigger stock rotors / calipers. I definitely got front and rear covers 5.0 symbol and everything on the rear so i know it was for the right year. you cant mistake the two in person. But there was no chance they were fitting the front. I already got my full return on them though AMAlexLazarus so thankyou!

I really should paint them which is probably what I will do eventually, I'm just so lazy because on my days off I rarely feel like taking the day to do the prep work essentially which is the most annoying part lol. I dont have it in me to half ass a job especially on my stang, so I would rather not do it until I'm willing to do it right! :surprise:
