Next a little expert help, please. What is the length of the '65 vintage C4 transmission dip stick from the "full" mark to the rubber seal where it contacts the tranny fill tube? Also, is there a part number stamped on the shaft? My current dip stick has no part # stamp, only a 'full' and 'add' stamping. I'm starting to believe I've got the wrong dip stick.

Also, is there a location on the C4 with a build date?
thanx,

It might be a good idea to compare it to other pics to see if it's original but I would definitely say that it's not right. It should look just like this one and say "Check While Hot Idling In Park": Scott Drake C6AZ-7A020-B Mustang Transmission Dipstick C4 Automatic Transmission 1965-1970 (cjponyparts.com)

There should be a Ford engineering part # on it that'll start with a C for the 1960s decade. The catalog part # is C6AZ-7A020-B but the engineering # will be a little different and also likely start off with C4 or C5 if it's an original 1965 dipstick.
