My 2001 Mustang Coupe heater/AC fan stopped working yesterday. What could be wrong? Help! It is sooo cold outside right now and we have no heat now.

I'm guessing its no longer under warranty?

The fan just stopped? As in dead, nothing? Then you either have a short in the system or the fan motor is simply burnt out. I'd say the latter is more likely. My friend has replaced three fan motors in his escort. Correction, I have replaced them with the parts he bought. Cheap little.... However, I'm not half as familiar with the latter models as most of these guys are so if its something thats a common issue I'm sure someone here will have the quick fix. And I can assure you, you'll have about 20 replies in two-three hours. I'll give you two guesses as to why. Good choice.

No offense and I don't mean to pry but why bother buying a 2001 model without a warranty? How much did you pay/are paying?

Well if it just went poof with no warning of any sort, ie stuttering, slow to kick-on, etc; its probably the motor itself. At least thats how my friend's went.

The car has 70K mi. on it, so the warranty is out. It runs great and looks even better and I got a really good deal on the price. I've never had any problems with it until this fan thing happened. ugh

UPDATE ~~~~ I took my car over to my mechanic and he fixed it in 45 seconds....the fan had locked up and when he hit the casing box that houses the fan under the glove compartment, it came back on. He said that sometimes the fans do that when the weather changes drastically. YIPPEE! No charges this time!
