Can someone tell me where to find or how to replace the starter in a 2004 Mustang? Is it even possible without a hoist...looking up there makes me wonder?
You're braver than I am to use an air ratchet on that. I tried for a few minutes on my best friends Cobra and ended up with several bloodied knuckles.Yup, pretty much as above. It helps enormously if you have an air ratchet, it then becomes a very easy job. You'll need the extensions listed above, 13mm, 12mm, and 8mm sockets, a swivel (preferred) or u-joint, a ratchet, and some patience. Remove the negative battery terminal FIRST, if you don't it has a lot of current and can kill you. It best to get the wires off first (12 & 8mm) and push them out of the way, then use the 13mm and other stuff to get the other bolts out, go for the hardest (top) one first, its actually easier that way. Reinstall is the opposite.
