Ok, so I bought from CJ's and it is all effed up. One side is mounted extremely pitiful and the other doesnt line up what so ever. I would love to just run the car without this damn thing if at all possible.

I undertand that it stiffens up the body and all, but can it be driven with out it?

It can be driven without it. It can be driven better with it.

On my 66, over the years I had to add more and more shims behind the UCA to get the alignment right. I was at the point the last time I had it done that the shop said he wouldn't put more shims in. I haven't gotten it to the shop since I rebuilt it and put in the bar, but it moved the fender apart 3/8 to 1/2 inch when I installed it.

If you don't have problems with your alignment, and its just a daily driver (judging by you signature, it may be a bit more), it's not necessary, just better.

Ok, it will be driven spring to fall, hard and fast, most likely in a straight line majority of the time. Weekends and short afternoon trips not everyday by any means.

Hey Piggly Wiggly........... Dude...You dont need a monte carlo bar to start the motor and break in the cam :gringreen............ Quit stalling and fire the damn thing up !

Chances are you're going to have to take the monte carlo bar "back out" to get to what ever you need to adjust, fix, or repair after you fired it up and broke in the cam. Never fails, always something.

Murphy's law pretty much dictates this

I love you to Pig ! We buckeye's gotta stick together

One of these days (when it warms up) I'm gonna drive down and leave black stripes all up and down your street. If that wont get you motivated, I dont know what will !

You going to All Ford Spring Swap meet next weekend ?

I'm telling you, its like no other candy shop for mustangs you've ever seen !

It could be you got a ****** up bar. From the looks of your mods on that motor, I would definitely run one and some subframe connectors would'nt be a bad idea either. The more you can do to stiffen these cars up the better especially when throwing all that HP in them.:bigthumbsup:yup:

I've got the global west adj. one, I leave the lock nuts loose and just give it a twist to release tension, pull one of the bolts and it flips out of the way. Once the cars running steadily I'll just tighten the lock nuts down.

As Hwyman eluded to the wt. of the engine can eventually cause the shock towers to sag towards each other causing fatique, alignment changes, etc. Sounds like you got a cheap repop. I looked at the ones at MU and didn't buy in person because of that, luckily this GW one fell in my lap off CL for $60...

The one I bought years ago doesn't fit worth a crap either. However, after watching the shock towers move under a load ( jacking up the front) with a loose export brace...I'm gonna put it back in. I might remake the ends or redrill them. I'd hate to weld on a chrome bar.

After talking with pig muff (which was a highly entertaining story) this was obviously a hilarious case of user retardation. I took some advice I read on here on got a stainless steel Scott drake bar. I sold the chrome one I had originally bought but not installed. It is a much better bar.

Did either of you two Buckeyes go. This was my first year going. Thought it would be a good way to get my boys interested as well as looking for some parts for my 69. I'm kind of kicking myself for not buying a set of rear quarter extensions for mine.:( Boy I could have sayed a lot longer if my 9yr old wasn't with me but I quess there is always next time. Do you know of any other ones in Central Ohio?

I'm not surprised it doesn't fit right, or seems not to. These cars are 40 years old and the weight of the motor pulls the shock towers in. Try jacking the car up in the front, this should allow the front to flex outward enough to install the bar.
