Dear all,
I am quite new in Mustang community and I bought a new 2022 Mach 1. It took me 1 year to recieve it and I am super happy with it. I really want to learn how to find and fix its issues myself. There are some issues that I explained to the Garage few weeks ago and they said that it is normal. But since I live in Switzerland, I cannot trust them since they might not have enough experience with american muscle cars. Here are some issues I found:
1- When I do a cold start, for few seconds, there is very loud ticking noise. I suspect the cam shaft and the clearance with the valves. It is more on the passenger side. If I wait few minutes until it reaches idle, it start to make a periodic ticking noise which was not there 6 months ago.
here is the link to the video of the noise:

2- If the engine is warm, let's say at 90 degree celcius, if I turn the engine off and immediately turn on, the idle will stay at 1000 instead of 600 no matter how long I wait for it. I suspect an ECU and software issue.
3- I don't like it when the brakes are wet and I use a hand brake, because the next day it seems like my tire is locked. I suspect kind of oxidation problem between the break disk and the brake pads. Is there any solution for that, for example other type of brake disk?
I really appreciate if you help me to understand my car and fix its issues.

Is this an imported American market Mustang or is it a EU market Mustang?
Do you have a Ford dealer in your country?
Has this car had any modifications done to it including an aftermarket tune?

As long as certain modifications aren't done then the car should still be under warranty. That's not a valve issue in your video. It sounds like a possible timing part issue to me. Your idle is definitely too high.

It sounds like the rear caliper is defective or a cable is sticking. This should also still be under warranty.

Thank you so much for the reply. It is imported and I didn’t modify anything. I already told the dealer in the last yearly inspection but the mechanic told the dealer that there is no problem with the engine. To me this is wierd.

Imported from where?
Where was the car's original destination or sales market: USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Germany, etc?
Did you buy this brand new or was it used?
Did the dealer say that the car is still under warranty?
What mechanic are you talking about, the one that works for the dealer or your own mechanic?

Your exhaust sounds pretty loud. Are you sure that it's stock?
If someone owned the car before you did then you need to find out if the PCM still has the original program in it or if it has an aftermarket tune in it. Only the dealer would really be able to determine this after the car is connected to a diagnostic.

From the sound in the video there's clearly something wrong with the engine or some accessory that the belt spins on the engine. That's not a normal sound that a 5.0 Coyote should make.

Sorry @Cobrajet67. I missed your reply. Thank you for the reply. The car imported from USA. I waited 1 year for it. It is brand new, and it still has warranty. Regarding the mechanic, I am talking about the one works with the dealer.

They checked the system with diag and nothing came up, but diag only shows the problems that sensors can sense.

Was this made as an EU market car or a USA market car?

Was this bought directly thru a Ford dealer in Switzerland or a 3rd party company?
Look under the hood and see what the emissions decal says. It'll say what region it complies with. Maybe post a pic of it.

When you say the mechanic that works "with" the dealer you have to be more specific. Is this the dealership mechanic as in he's employed directly by the dealership as one if their mechanics or is this some mechanic that works outside of the dealer and goes between you and the dealership?

Do you have a dealer that you can take the car to in Switzerland?

How long does the clicking noise cycle on and off for?
That sound could be coming from the A/C compressor. Turn the A/C and defroster off and if you have an automatic HVAC system then turn the whole thing to off. The A/C compressor runs when set to defrost and an automatic system will turn the A/C on when it decides to so just turn the whole HVAC system completely off to see if the noise goes away.

The idle is definitely too high at 1000 RPM after it's warmed up. I would also suspect a PCM issue since that's what controls idle. It may just need a software update from Ford to correct it but that would almost certainly have to be done at a dealership.

Buy an OBD scanner to scan the car. You need to know if your car is an EU or USA market car though. I believe that the EU uses their own OBD protocol and I'm not sure if an American OBD2 scanner is compatible or not. If you have an EU car then you might need to buy an EU compatible scanner and if you have a USA car then you might need to buy a USA scanner.

welcome to the forum josegg

you'll probably get better response if you start a new thread, in the appropriate section, with a clear subject line that summarizes your main issues or questions
