Hi everyone,

please help
I have a 2017 Mustang eco boost convertible
I bought the car with the airbag light on and the error code referring to the passenger occupant seat sensor. I checked the sensor and it was leaking fluid.
Error codes are: B00A0:09-8B & B00A0:64-8B
I found the same sensor on eBay after looking for a long time and replaced it but still have the same code and the scanner would erase it then it will come back again (intermittent)
I took out the airbag module and sent it to reset thinking maybe a crash code was stored there. I got it back installed it and it didn’t fix the problem.
I had a quote from the old owner for almost $3k from the dealer to replace the sensor with the cushion for the seat but I really can’t afford paying 3k for this.

Where can I find/buy the wiring diagram to do a continuity check on the cable from the sensor to the module?

You can't simply swap out the sensor in a modern SRS system from another car. I believe that the OCS(occupant seat sensor) may come as a matched set with the other sensors and the RCM(restraints control module). This is likely why the dealer supposedly wants $3k to fix the issue because they're going to replace any of the OCS parts in the car they deem necessary in an entire OCS service kit which consists of the foam pad-cushion, bladder, hose with pressure sensor, electronic control unit(ECU), and wiring harness.

I'm not sure but you might be able to send the used OCS out with your RCM to have the RCM reprogrammed and configured to it. If that's possible then you might have to have both sensors sent out with the RCM though, idk. There are specific module repair companies that configure or reset RCM modules and perhaps with used OCSs as well.

I remember talking about this a couple years ago: (180) Alternatives to ocs service kit | Ford Mustang Forum (allfordmustangs.com)

I would call around to another dealer or two and get your own quote. Some dealers like to inflate prices and that $3k quote seems pretty steep for a single seat OCS service.
I’m on an island with two ford dealers only and the cheapest was $3k (2780 to be exact). I can buy the sensor with the cushion from the dealer for $1700 but I’m sure I will need them to program it.

What's the part # of the OCS service kit?
If the dealer is charging you $1080 to install and program the RCM then that sure seems like robbery. Even if their hourly rate was almost $200/hour I can't see how they can justify 5-1/2 hours of labor or 4-1/2 + 1 hour of programming(it only takes them about 15 minutes to program anything). It shouldn't take that many hours to do. I watched a video of the OCS being replaced once and though it's a pita it wasn't anywhere near that lengthy to swap out.
If you put the kit in yourself then you would need someone with a subscription/access to the Ford IDS software on a laptop and a VCM(Vehicle Communication Module). All dealers will obviously have this software and VCM tool but some more established independent shops that often work on Fords will also have it. You'd have to call around to find out.

UPDATE
So I went to a different dealer and requested them to reset my new sensor that I installed thinking it’s definitely not going to work and they will say you need a new one. Surprisingly it worked and it only cost me about $200. Very stocked.
Were they able to reprogram the used one that you had from another car or do you mean a brand new sensor that you installed?

Thanks for following up with this. It'll be very helpful to any other people that need to replace their OCS.
Just to clarify things here, the dealer programmed the RCM itself to the used OCS. They may have also assigned the OCS a new serial #, idk if that's even possible or not though as they may have just been able to register the OCS as it was, but the main thing that had to happen here is that the module recognizes the OCS.
