Which are better to get? I'm not completely ignorant so i know right off the bat that painted will last longer but i've been looking at prices and right now painted ones look like a better deal to me as i found someone who charges about 600 where i can only find decal stripes for around 1200 (installed). I would also like to know if you guys had like an idea what size width looked good on a stock body kit because i was thinking 12" but i'm not sure.

$1200.00 seems a bit over priced imo. What all are you getting done??
I guess the advantage with decals that if down the road you find you don't like them they can be taken off. I had tall decal side stripes professionally done on my V6 and they lasted with no peeling at all after 6 years 4 seasons parked outside and as far as I know still lasting(I sold the car). They cost 300.00 installed.
Well that seems over priced to me too but it's at a ford dealership and i can't seem to find another shop that do it or want to do it really...
I am partial to painted stripes.
My wifes first 07 GT (Black with white stripes) I had dual 11 inch stripes with a 5 inch seperation.
My wifes current 07 GT (white with blue stripes) has dual 11 inch stripes with a 2 inch seperation.

Is there a kit you could buy and do it yourself? If not sounds like painted is the way to go.
Paint will always be better but the cost is a lot more. If the car stays outdoors ALL the time then go with paint. Mine is garaged 98% of the time so decals worked fine and have stayed looking great for almost 10 years now.

Stripes and installation
I bought the stripes. They only cost me 375.00 installed. It included stripes for the hood, the trunk (it's a convertible) and stripes on the running boards with the word Mustang on them. And the stripes were OEM. Whoever is charging you that kind of cash for stripes is trying to take you to the bank. Check my gallery photos if you want to see what it looks like.
I like the stripes with the 2'' separation more in my opinion. Thanks for the pics.msmassey said:
Like i said it's a Ford dealership and they claim that if i have a kit they will still install but for $ 600 which is the same as i can get them painted for but then i'll have to buy a kit which will be $ 200 or so anyway. I wish there was a place here that did decals but from the sound of it if the paint cost about as much as the decals then i'll probably just go for the paint as many people say they tend to generally be more expensive anyway. I'm still hesitant on doing this though because of the new v6 coming out and then i may loose this money if i do this now i just wish ford would announce the price already!
