So yesterday, I stopped by my Dealership (where I bought my 2011 GT/CS), as I always like to see what the Ford dealerships have on their lot, and I stop most of the time just to look, and sometimes get something new for mine.

Of course a salesman arrived right away on my tail and I told him right from the start that I'm just looking, I already have one that I bought from them 1 year 1/2 ago (surprisingly none of the salesmen are still there since I got mine...) He was a nice guy, just started as a Salesman couple of weeks ago, not really his job and I was actually teaching him a few things about the Mustangs, just some nice friendly conversation.

They had 3 2012 V6 & V8 left, and 5 2013: 2 V6, 2 GT, and 1 GT/CS black, with the same options than mine, funny...

I was not even thinking of test driving it, as it's about the same as mine stock, and with my mods, it's not even worth a comparison. But he offered me to test drive, even when I told him that I was not interested on buying it, so I went for it, what the heck... It felt strange, like back in time when I test drove the one I bought! :D

So like I said, I can't compare both, with the mods I have (look on my profile to see) it would be unfair to this stock one... So I will describe what I like and not like on the 2013 GT/CS:

- First of all, I have to say that the frame around the rear license plate is really ugly, damn!!! What was Ford thinking??? That cheap plastic part would probably be the first thing that I would change if I had a 2013! Maybe get a 2011/12 rear bumper or something...
- I really cannot do it with these tail lights either, not my thing at all! They look ricey, aftermarket, whatever you want to call them, they just don't go with the Mustang period.
(Don't start getting all pissed off, 2013 owners, I'm just saying what I feel, to each his own...)
- Don't care much about the hood vents, I think a functional hood scoop on the 2011/12s hood would have been much better.
- The front is not that bad on the CS, it's not that I don't like it, I just don't like the fact that it's "stollen" from the GT500 and that now all these 2013 look about the same. Honestly, there were 2 V6 and 2 regular GTs side by side and frankly I looked close and the only thing that make them stand apart from the front are the fog lights on the grill and the hood vents, all the rest is the same! Same grilles, same lower fascias...
Plus the front of the 2011/12 is still more aggressive to me.
- I like the lower stripes, the pony emblem inside the door panels, like they had on the 401a of the 2011/12; it really gives a nice touch, although I don't know how strong it is, and if they will hold in time...
- I like the adjustable headrests witch is new compared to the 2011/12, they're also a bit bigger. Not sure if I like the white stitching tho, I think I prefer it black.
- The Alcantara on the seats are nice, but here again, in the long run, I don't think it's gonna hold as good as the "carbon fiber material" on the 2011/12s, I know that for a fact, as I had a car who had this kind of material and after I sat on it for awhile, the texture was not as "fluffy" (if that's the word...) as it is new. Other proof I have for what I'm saying is the suede parts I have around my GT500 steering wheel (suede & alcantara is very similar). Of course it doesn't have the same use, but still.
- Didn't felt any HP upgrade, but I have the Ford Racing Tune on mine, so can't compare here, although I don't think it would be noticeable stock to stock.
- Didn't mess with the Track App, as it's not like I had the all day, it was a short test drive and frankly this is something some might love to have, I couldn't care less about it. I might be old school, and prefer to have all my gauges under my eyes, than some screen with all bunch of stuff. I'm in my Mustang to drive, not to look at a screen!

At the end I thank that new Salesman, it was fun to test drive as always; hey it's a Mustang! And he learned some stuff. :bigthumbsup
If today I was on the market for a new Mustang and no new 2012 were available, the GT/CS is the one I would go for again, no doubts about it! Like for the 2011/12s it stands out from the rest (except for the GT500, but that's not in the same league either...).
But as I am today, it's really not worth it, and I prefer by far the 2011/12 GT/CS overall look and features.

The 2013 GT/CS remains a beautiful Mustang, don't get me wrong, I just have my preferences.
Here is a little video I did "on the run", might be shaking at times, lol I even got the new salesman to hold it for me, while I was driving!
Thanks for reading! :bigthumbsup

Yeah I don't like how they all have the gt500 front now..it takes most of the uniqueness of the gt500 away.

I also agree on the GT500 front end. It made it so unique from the GT and V6 for 11' and 12'

Nice write up. I don't like the front end of the 13's. The huge Smiley face ford gave all the 13's is a huge turn off to me. I really like the taillights but that's about it.

Thanks....
This illuminates the need for actual tests that present real raw data........hopefully this kick starts that......

To me, it looks like a retarded catfish.

EDIT: And it was the main reason I couldnt buy a 2013 new and went with a used 2011. If Im going to pay 30K for a car, I got to be able to stand looking at it without grimacing.

Can't say I expected anything less from the OP. Clearly the 11-12 Mustang is the best looking Mustang ever ;)

Yeah... the 13s are butt ugly. What was Ford thinking?

Here come the '13 owners. Can't say I expected anything less.

From an unbiased '11 owner:

I would still buy a 2013 if I didn't already own my 2011. Would I trade up for one? Most definitely not.

However, I agree that Ford (and this is a fact) took away from the GT500 by giving the '13s a similar look.

However, for somebody that can only afford a V6...that's a damn good bargain. :bigthumbsup

hate the retro dash...c'mon retro outside is ok, but the gauges and steering wheel? Fugly...c'mon 2015, let's see a real sports car again

Well 13 owners wouldn't expect anything less either. I mean let's face it most of us are going to like our cars better and even if an 11-12 owner liked the 13 better they would lose their shirt trading so they are going to convince them selves that theirs is better. The 13 owners will do the same thing when the next model comes out even if it's a better looking car.

Look at the posts retarded,ugly... Really I hate to tell you it doesn't look that different from the 11-12. Ok I get some people may like the looks of one over the other but to flat out hate the new one tells me that some one is trying to justify their car.

I can only speak for myself: I am not trying to convince myself or anyone else that mine is better, I'm just saying what I honestly feel and prefers. Again, to each its own...

I'd love to get the 2013 GT500, but cannot afford it. :D That said, I still don't like the tail lights and rear license frame on the 2013 GT500 as well, and I'm not a fan either of the front lacking any type of grill for the GT500, but hey this is about the GT/CS and that's just me.

Like I said before; newer isn't always better, but if it was and if I really liked it, I'll do anything to get it, honestly.

Great video asphalt, for something you did on-the-run it looked/sounded pretty professional.

Despite the post requiring some effort to read, I think you hit it right on the money. If the 2014 looks different, all of us '13 owners will talk about how ours is so much better, if we can't afford the trade in.

I don't quite understand why the looks take anything away from the GT500. To me it is like saying that the 11 or 12's took away from the 500 for having the same rear end. Im not trying to sound like an ass. Im just curious to see if there is something that I'm not catching.

Does it matter? I don't think my opinion showed that I swayed one way or the other...

For a while now, the GT500's were the only one with that same front end. That was one of the visually defining key aspects of being able to recognize a GT500. You take that away and now what? All that's left are stripes. And some cars get those too.

Who in their right mind would trade a one or two year old model in for a new one based on some minor appearance changes? To me, saying you wouldn't makes you sane.

Front end. I like it because I have always liked the Shelby nose.
Tail. Hate the bracket around the plate. I also hate the 11-12 tail lights. Just horrible looking.

But if I owned an 11 or 12, there is virtually nothing they could have done to a 13 in the appearance department to make me want to take it up the ass by trading up. Major performance enhancements would, but not minor appearance details.

Good point, and I agree, and I'm sure the same argument came up with the 2010 facelift. I just don't think it takes anything away from the GT500. If ford were to put a N/A version of the 5.8 in the base GT's (or something of that magnitude) then I would completely understand the criticism.
